confrontational? Or get too caught up in your present state of emotions to be able to think/type/respond clearly?

After reading some threads of late, I feel like quite a few people come across as confrontational, no matter the topic. It's kind of humorous, but at the same time, it's got me thinking...what our mindset is when we post and how we're feeling, etc..

For instance, I'm a little stressed right now with Adobe being in surgery, most likely as I type, so obviously that is affecting me somewhat. I typed a response to a thread and when I went back to read it, I felt like it was totally confrontational and quickly edited it so that it did not come across that way.

At least I caught myself, right? :p And I am usually (with exceptions) a very laid back person, but I also realize that written word with no facial expressions is more difficult to decipher. People have said I've been mad when I wasn't feeling it at all or sad, etc.. Anyone ever think about things like that? Or is it just me? :lol-sign:

I can be when I feel like I'm being attacked but other than that I consider myself a laid back person. But I think everyone has those days where they are just bitchy. At least I sure do :D

I can be when backed into a corner. Usually, I'm a quiet calm person but back me into a corner and that will all change lol.

depends on the topic. I have very little patience with stupidity (from people who should know better)

That's true, Grammy, we do all have our moments! Thanks for the well wishes as well. It was just a reminder to me that we all have bad days and need to be aware of what we say. :)

I can be bitchy when put into a corner as well, I just don't like it.

Me too, Jess. I don't like getting in on an internet debate or argument -whatever you like to call it- most the time. I can be bitchy when put into a corner too.

In life though, wow, I can argue with the best. LOL My parents say I should be a lawyer :p

Our emotions influence judgment in everything we say and do. When we're stressed it really effects our judgment.

A very nice shrink told me years ago to try to monitor myself before getting upset and reacting to a situation. He said when something happens and you get angry you feel it physically first and if you can stop for a second and think "what just happened or what was just said that pissed me off so much?". If you can pinpoint it then you can state your opinion or displeasure. Ugh this is hard to explain. It stops things from escalating and you do feel it physically before you have time to react.

Sometimes I just dont have the time to stop and think. It happens before I know it..lol
It's hard to do because we react so quickly, and that is the problem, we get angry or upset and this fuels the fire. I feel it in my stomach - not a pain - just an uncomfortable feeling that now I'm ticked off - why?

In real life I am generally the first one to jump into the fray. I would say I am definately confrontational. Online, I am able to tone myself down a bit though.

I, in general, am very nonconfrontational, but hit the right buttons and I can get really heated. Like the time I got an in-school suspension for bitching out a substitute teacher who thought getting in an argument with me over the health of designer breeds was a good idea.
On the internet I am WAY less confrontational than I am in real life, not really sure why, but I am.

ETA: Just wanted to say that the sub was also a tennis coach for an opposing team and had been an @ss to me before and accused me of cheating, so we had history, I don't just go around slaying people :). I try to educate first, but as soon as he called me "little missy" and said he had "a lot more experience than me" everything kinda just went downhill...
