I LOVE the name Nevaeh. My niece is named Nevaeh and yes, it DOES have a VERY STRONG meaning.
My niece was born at 25 and a half weeks gestation. She is one lucky girl to even be alive. We just celebrated her 5th birthday last saturday and you would never know that this little girl has had such a rough start in life. She has had more surguries than bithdays beucase of a tumor in her head that the doctors keep removing, but it keeps coming back. So, yes, Nevaeh is a very appropriate name for this little girl becuase it seems there were heaven's angles holding her tiny little hands in the NICU.

I girl I work with has a son named Boston and a daughter named Brooklyn.
Thats a pritty name! Isn't it short for Kimberly?...

Names I don't like-Boston(makes me think of Boston creme pie, Janet(blame the magic school bus for that one), Old sounding names, names that are common such as Sam. I don't "dislike these name but for my child I would want a unique name.

I don't like names that sound old.

Like naming a baby Ruth, or Joyce..... or Beatrice.... or Gertrude.... LOL it sounds like she should be in a nursing home. I just don't like them for a baby. Now my grandmothers name is Joyce.... and it works for her because she is old lol.
:yikes: Is that how you see me ?? Yikes

Sorry , I meant no offense . after reading your post, it does seem like a great name for that little girl. It brings a certain symbolism to it.

it's okay... I guess I am just in a bad mood, I didnt take offence to anything said, I was more trying to say that all names can have a strong meaning to them, other than what those baby books say. :p :D

I wasn't thinking about any thing like that either. Maybe the meaning of a name has more to do with what it means to you when you choose it.

I think this thread has the potential to offend every single one of us--since we will all have differences in likes and dislikes!! LOL! Having said that, it is terribly hard to name a child--finding a name that suits them from infancy to elderly is a challenge. Then finding one that several people agree on --well, it's amazing that any of us have names at all!! THEN< add a middle name!! OH BOY! Naming my children, we chose names that had meaning to them, as well as incorportated family names (altough sometimes using the first initial instead of the name--took the M from Mildred-great grandma, and turned it into Michelle for a middle name).
Anyway--just my take, and no I didn't post names I like or dislike--don't want to offend anyone!!

I don't think that this post should be offensive... everyone has things they like and dislike. I don't even like my own name. lol.

Any name can have potentially have meaning, though. Someone could name their baby "Spike," because he had a tuff of spikey hair when he was born. It is still a silly name in my opinion, even though it held meaning for the kid's family.

I don't dig the following names:

Tanner, Taylor, Parker.

For some reason although they end in the same last sound the following names are okay:

Gunnar, Gunter.

I think some old fashioned names are charming ! Parents have to think of nick names too though . My girl's friend named their boy Nicholas ....nice name but everyone called him Nicky and his last name was Knuckles . I do associate some names with old school mates I didn't care for .... Agnes and Hortense .

It would be a lot easier to list names I do like. I am so very particular when it comes to names.

I like Aidan, maybe Aiden. I think the 'e' looks better. My creativity and memory must be shot today. That's the only name I can think of.

I like the name Erik, but I'm not sure I'd name my child that.

My name is Kristina Marie and I like my middle name! There are also a lot "Nicole" middle-namers out there too.

I dont like boring, plain-jane names like Frank, Ann, Heather, Roger, Rick, Stephanie...they are just too common and just so blah. No offense to anybody who has those names!

I love names that have pretty sounds to them and deep meanings. Victoria and Naiya (Nie-ya) are my favourite names. I dunno what happened, but I just fell in love with the name Naiya... I think its such a beautiful name. :D
