My middle name is also Marie LOL.... and if we have a girl her middle name will also be Marie.... but it was my maternal Grandmothers name and she passed away 18 years ago from Cancer. It was very sad so now I am glad to have that name and want to keep it going.

The only thing I hate about my first name is everyone wants to call me Tonya... not TAnya. lol drives me nuts.

Well, I'll confess to also having a middle name of Marie. My grandmother named all of her daughters Marie, with different middle names. So my sisters and I have different first names, with Marie as our middle name. I think Marie is a pretty name, it's my first name I'm not fond of. No one can spell Caitlin right. They ask, I spell it for them, and then they still proceed to spell it however they think looks right. Oh well.

I like my own first name because it isn't common but was not part of a fad. Plus it rolls/works really well with my last name, in sync and unique unto itself. I think my parents did well by me for that reason. I always winced when people named their kids names that are faddish. I don't think parents realize that a person's name helps shape who they become in many ways because of perceptions. Then there are the names that ran the gamut for a period of years, so that they the name is so common you can shout them in a room and ten people turn around. Caitlin comes to mind at this time. Then there are the poor folks of yesteryear who got stuck with some really bad first names that rang poorly with their last names because they were named after a relative. Nobody wants to be named Congetta Slotnik. lol.

My first name is Cynthia. Not Cindy. Cynthia. I do not answer to Cindy and nobody ever even tries to call me Cindy. I was named for my great grandmother whose name was Jacintha. Thank God my mother had the good sense to translate it to the closest facsimile.

Well I think Jacintha is a fabulous name TM..........I would use it on a child :D and probably call her Jack for short, NOT JACKIE........hahahahaha (I know that the C is soft in Jacintha....but Jack would be cute for a girls nickname)

But I don't like the names that end in "indy" or "endy" or "andy"

Cindy, Wendy, Mindy, Brandy, Sandy, Mandy, Candy.........etc......I don't have a specific reason why......just a personal opinion. Please if there are any of these people here DON'T be offended......I mean, WHO am I??, just another person with a middle name of Marie..........hahahahhaha

Marie I don't care for.......but together with my first, and Maiden.....it was OK.

Boy names........I do NOT like the name Kyle, probably because of my sisters first psycho boyfriend.....but I can't be sure :)

Yeah well knowing the roots of the name got me dubbed "Joshie" as a child, but thank heavens it didn't spread beyond my family.

LOL! that is so funny.

Anyone watch sex and the city?? Miranda names her son Brady after his dad's last name (cause they had broken up)...she later marries him...

Always bugged me that they NEVER addressed the fact that the kid's name was Brady Brady!!! :lol-sign:

Quite a few celebrities name their kids some very unusual names. Most of the time, I don't care for them.

There was a doctor who worked at Doctor's Hospital in Seattle and his last name was Doctor. No kidding. I'm dead serious.

My sister knew a guy in highschool with the last name of Leg. His first name was Harry. Can you imagine?

My Dad says he knew a guy way back in school (I don't know if I believe this or not) whose name was Water Meter. LOL. Do you think he was teasing me? I tend to believe whatever anyone tells me.

I don't go for super trendy names or contrived names....names that sound like someone is trying really hard to be different. But I like sort of old fashion names that are regular names, but not over used.

When I named my daughter, I hadn't heard the name Emily for ages. And my husband was from Czechoslovakia and we had a terrible time agreeing on a name that sounded good to both of us. I liked Jessica and Gretchen, Angela and he liked Angel all right, but nothing else. He liked weird names like Jidka (Yid-ka) I'm not sure I even spelled it right. So, finally we came on Emily. By the time she was in pre school, there were all kinds of Emilys popping up. She had three Emilys in one class in high school. LOL.

I named my son Andrew....just because I like that name and it turned out that we have ancestors whose names were Emily and Andrew. I didn't even know it at the time. Well, I knew about the Andrew, but didn't think of that when I named my boy. Two of the country's worst hurricanes were named after my two children. Fancy that!

I'm not wild about my name. And it's confusing to have two names, a real name, Caroline and a nick name, Carrie and then there's Doberluv. Now that one, really is hoaky. I always hated my middle name. It sounded like a boy's name, even though it's because of a family name. Brent. Now, it's fine with me. Two of my nieces (two sisters) both have Brent for their middle name. LOL.

I'm actually jealous of my sister. She has the name I would love to have. Gretchen.

My Grandmas name was Bertha. She was very German. My Dad teased me and said he was going to name me Brunhilda and my brother Wolfgang. He thought he was such a card. LOL.

Ok, since we are telling funny names.................

My first cousin on my mom's side has the last name of Dendy. (pronounced dindy, short I) His name is Jerry Dendy, no big deal, average........but he fell in love & married a girl named Mindy, I am not kidding in the least.........Mindy Dendy.

They have been together for at least 20 years.........their first child was a girl, and of course I had to suggest Wendy :D (even though I dislike the name....and him too for that matter, ROFL!)
