There was a doctor who worked at Doctor's Hospital in Seattle and his last name was Doctor. No kidding. I'm dead serious.
My sister knew a guy in highschool with the last name of Leg. His first name was Harry. Can you imagine?
My Dad says he knew a guy way back in school (I don't know if I believe this or not) whose name was Water Meter. LOL. Do you think he was teasing me? I tend to believe whatever anyone tells me.
I don't go for super trendy names or contrived names....names that sound like someone is trying really hard to be different. But I like sort of old fashion names that are regular names, but not over used.
When I named my daughter, I hadn't heard the name Emily for ages. And my husband was from Czechoslovakia and we had a terrible time agreeing on a name that sounded good to both of us. I liked Jessica and Gretchen, Angela and he liked Angel all right, but nothing else. He liked weird names like Jidka (Yid-ka) I'm not sure I even spelled it right. So, finally we came on Emily. By the time she was in pre school, there were all kinds of Emilys popping up. She had three Emilys in one class in high school. LOL.
I named my son Andrew....just because I like that name and it turned out that we have ancestors whose names were Emily and Andrew. I didn't even know it at the time. Well, I knew about the Andrew, but didn't think of that when I named my boy. Two of the country's worst hurricanes were named after my two children. Fancy that!
I'm not wild about my name. And it's confusing to have two names, a real name, Caroline and a nick name, Carrie and then there's Doberluv. Now that one, really is hoaky. I always hated my middle name. It sounded like a boy's name, even though it's because of a family name. Brent. Now, it's fine with me. Two of my nieces (two sisters) both have Brent for their middle name. LOL.
I'm actually jealous of my sister. She has the name I would love to have. Gretchen.
My Grandmas name was Bertha. She was very German. My Dad teased me and said he was going to name me Brunhilda and my brother Wolfgang. He thought he was such a card. LOL.
