Cait...I'm so sorry! Next time around maybe do some progesterone testing during the pregnancy? to make sure her levels are staying up. I know when they dip they can I think supplement that.

I think there are natural progestorone sources but no idea what they are. I am again, so sorry!

Yeah, I'm going to call Dr. E and see what he recommends, but I think I'm also not going to breed her back to that same male- he's not proven and I'm starting to wonder if he's just NQR. 3 misses out of 4 breedings isn't a good track record- and breeding #4 isn't on the ground safe yet!

Um, what does that mean??

Generally, it means that the fetuses aborted and instead of expelling the corpses, the bitch is 'reabsorbing' them into her system. There are multiple possible causes.

So sorry to hear, DSA. You could also have them collect the guy and take a look at him to see how his motility and fertility is.

I would surely not do another breeding on this girl without doing careful progesterone ovulation timing, and as Gina, says, keeping an eye on the progesterone levels during the time she is in whelp.

DSA - so sorry to hear. :( I was hoping I had kept the bad luck to myself. I'm pretty sure the reason for my girl was stress - she's become overly protective of me and the property since my home invasion a few months back. As far as Rittie, maybe she just wasn't quite settled in her new home ...

As for the positive ultrasound and later no pups, I've had that happen about 10 yrs ago. Weirdest thing - 4 strong heartbeats at 5 weeks, then not even a hint of skeletal remains on xray at 9 weeks.
