:lol-sign: LMAO.

Mine always give me the "mommy, can't we just pee on the rug tonight?" look. Rylie hops around on 3 legs. Madison and Chloe are usually pretty quick.

Where did I state I was keeping my puppy outside? I cannot seem to recall typing that.

But for the record, he has learned to go whine at the door & loves lying in the grass soaking up the sunshine. But I guess I'm cruel in allowing him to do that.

When did our culture shift from taking care of a dog by providing housing, food, water, physical exercise, mental exercise, & companionship whether it be to an outside dog to having to force the belief that all dogs must be kept inside, sleep on nice beds, drink from ceramic bowls, & wear designer duds? Even without the designer duds it's still an extremist way of thinking IMO.

And for example, my uncle who owns & operates a small beef cattle operation has 2 Australian Cattle Dogs, 1 Australian Shepherd, & 1 mutt that help with daily goings on. These dogs are workers & are not pets. Yet they don't look abused or act abused. In fact, they are down at the pastures in the morning ready to get the day going before my uncle most of the time.

This is getting absurd.

And here's something fun for y'all to jump on: my dogs' kennels are in the garage. :yikes:
Someones quite defensive......

we can leave the door wide open and sophie spends most of the day outside. i think it must be warmer for her.

her and harry sleep in the garage though because otherwise they'll get on the new kounge and they're really hard to sleep with. but their so cute. when sophie wants to go to bed she'll get up from wherever she's been, come over to mum and start getting her attanetion and looking at the front door. she decided when she's ready for bed. then her and harry race in to get the best of the 2 beds. harry always wins so mum makes him swap every second night.

they have a off-the-ground bed each with a blanket lining it. then they get in and have antoehr blanket wrapped around them. lol i think their happy with it.

our dogs used to be outside dogs. and i loved them just as much. but buster has always wanted to sleep in my bed. i had a gap beside my door and every night when i was getting ready fr bed his head would appear through it asking to come in. lol.

i personally would prefer to have my dogs inside when i know their safe. but i understand why some people want their dogs outside. the amount of hair and dirst and dust these dogs leave around the house is unbelievable. their not allowed on the carpet though unless we put down blankets for them because its a renter and we're just trying to keep it clean.

Gee whiz, you guys.

Instead of worrying about who takes the best care of their dogs, focus on the care you give your own and stop trying to one up everyone.

Some dogs do prefer being outside. Some dogs have to be dragged outside. Some dogs live in kennels and are still treated well. Some have dogs that work. Not everyone lives the same lifestyle, it doesn't mean their dogs are abused or any less loved.

I think the people who genuinely abuse or mistreat their pets *probably* aren't the ones you are reaching by bickering back and forth in 55 pages worth of jibberish. (meaning this thread and the "other" one.)

Sorry for my rant...I'm usually the "quiet" one who ignores the drama unless it personally involves me, but it just seems like everyone has their lips curled up at the wrong people....

Mav is a dog that loves being outside. I often have to go out and make him come in cuz he'll just lay in the grass staring at me. If I didn't feed him inside I dont' think he'd ever come in!

Guys . . . . some of you are missing the tongue-in-cheek humor in these two threads ;)
You took the words right out of my mouth .. *L* .. that was exactly the phrase I was thinking as I read through this.

I know for me the "Only dogs that live inside are real dogs" was a tongue-in-cheek reaction to the "Only working dogs are real dogs" statement.

But in all honesty, the vast majority of dogs would prefer to live WITH their owners, able to interact with their people freely without the boundaries of doors and pens and tethers. Yes, there are some who really like it outside. But much of that is what the dog learns as a young dog .. the only dog I've ever had who preferred to stay outdoors all the time was a dog who had been raised outdoors and that's what he knew and understood.

Dogs who have loving owners who enjoy having them by their sides, able to reach out and scratch their dog's back while they're watching TV, knowing that the dog is curled up behind them while they're on the computer, having that day-to-day, minute-by-minute interaction that happens with an indoor dog .. well, I am absolutely sure that those dogs have a higher level of joy in their lives than dogs who live in a kennel outside and interact with their owners only when the owners choose to go out there. Of course, this is my opinion .. *L*

My dogs love being outside, love romping in the woods, love snuffling through the grass in search of mice or spiders or whatever .. but they like it most when I'm out there WITH them. Their main focus in life is being with me.

Ok Ok I am sorry I put that up in my siggy. It was a joke to pun the other one nothing mean was meant and that is the truth. I was playing along with others who chose humor over anger which I think showed a lot more class. I have removed it and now let go of it. I wont play along anymore I will sit by the side lines.
I find it interesting that over 45 people did it and I got the singling out for it by a few here.
