To change the subject.. I love your new sig Boxer !!! Great shot !!
Thanks! it was my avatar but it was too small to see.

I'll repost my question from your other thread rottie.

I'm just curious are you in some kind of statistics or psychology class? Is that why are a lot of your threads are like this? Not that I mind having my brain picked and stating my ground on issues but the thought did occur to me that maybe this is some kind of a class project. :D

The threads I'm talking about:
Docking and cropping
Same Sex Marriage
Death Penalty
The Truth to the Pit Bull Problem
Human Lives are more impotant than any pit bulls life
Pit Bull Statistics

See why I wonder?

And is there a pattern anyone else sees here?

Julie, did you even look at my warning? Yes, ogrish is not a good news site but the pictures do resemble a pit attack, so I would say that is exactly what happened (I have seen other photos before)
Yes, I did look at your warning.

It just seems a little too graphic to even post, especially since everyone knows young children frequent this forum too. Especially since you already knew that ogrish is not a good news site but, posted this anyway because some of us might be interested in seeing some gruesome photos.

The photos also look like a bear attack (I have seen photos, from a reliable source) or some other horrific injury from severe trauma.

In no way trying to start something, just stating my opinion, as you have.

shreadhead, I was reading about the dogo argentinos history and I found out that during the breeds early stages, the dogs would fight when they were mating. So yes, genetics can get that bad.

This is a copy from an article in the newspaper in San Fransisco with regards to 4 attacks that did involved pit or pit mixes but read the first paragraph

Trish King, director of behavior and training at the Marin Humane Society, said Monday's attack probably had nothing to do with the dog's breed. Many dogs will chase moving objects such as bicycles, she said, and usually calm down if the person stops.

The seeming increase in pit bull attacks is most likely attributable to a combination of factors, she said, including the large number of pit bulls in the Bay Area and the people who are breeding them. Dogs who are bred to be aggressive only get worse with each generation, King said.

"If there are more pit bull attacks, it's probably because there are more pit bulls — it's just a numbers game," she said, adding that terriers in general have been bred to follow through once they attack.

But other attacks, such as the Santa Rosa mauling, seem more predatory, King said. Those attacks are instinctual, not necessarily "aggressive," and are tied to the dog's hunting instincts.

"Most aggression is fear-based — the dog bites quickly then gets out of the way," she explained. "In these cases the attacks seem to be predatory. They are responding to instincts, and these dogs have been bred to have very strong instincts," she said.

boxermom, I just like hearing other peoples opinions, that is why I post those kind of topics. I like discussions with different points of views. Julie, I understand how you feel and I respect your opinions. I checked before, if it was ok to post graphic images with a warning. I feel that is ok as long as you have a warning. it is true that there are kids who go on the internet, but its up to the parents to supervise them. Kids have the power to go to alot of graphic sites when there is no supervision

Now that is bad genes. Those aren't really domestic dogs, more like wild wolves.

mydogsloveme, yeah that article you posted is so true. Shredhead, I might be able to find the site I got the dogo information off of if you like, but it may take awhile. It is very weird that genetics play such a huge role, amazing.

Not necessarly, think about it though you see dogs chase cars that are moving, even the littlest of dogs, and they are correct, dogs to tend to go after moving things bad genes or not. Hunting instinct territorial instinct. People get dogs to protect them, this they become territorial or protective. We as a society dont stop to remember that we as a society raise animals for protection or companionship. Once again it comes down to we as a society. I will agree that people that are breeding large animals for the sole purpose of fighting and they keep on breeding killers well they will kill if not another animal a person.

mydogsloveme, you are very correct. Not too long ago I read an article about a pit bull that litteraly attacked a car, because the dogs pray drive was so high. you should have seen the pictures of the bent up car, looked like it was in an accident. maybe I can find the article.

Listen, I am just not one to believe garbage. So I will respectfully agree to disagree on this one.

I hope everyone understands.

Thanks,
Julie.

Isabelle wants a hug.

Wrinkles appear on her broad, black and white head while she waits for a sign from owner and pit bull advocate Christine Allen.

Eventually, the 55-pound dog is allowed on to the couch and Allen’s lap.

"They want to be touched all the time," Allen says of those belonging to Isabelle’s breed.

As South Bay representative for BAD RAP — Bay Area Doglovers Responsible About Pit Bulls — Allen teaches pit bull owners about their dogs, and provides foster care for shelter dwellers she believes are adoptable but slated to be euthanized.

Pit bulls, the Corralitos resident says, "are athletic, loyal, goofy dogs."

Mass breeding facilities, like one in the East Bay, turn out up to 200,000 pit bulls per year, Allen says, and "don’t spay/neuter, don’t care about temperament, and don’t do health testing."

The spay/neuter part is where most animal experts and advocates agree that solutions must start.

Santa Cruz County has had a mandatory spay/neuter ordinance in place for 12 years. Pit bulls can be spayed or neutered free of charge, says Lisa Carter of the Santa Cruz SPCA, "because of their sheer numbers in our shelters."

The policy not only cuts down on the number of unwanted animals, it makes the altered animals less aggressive. In 85 percent of dog attacks, Carter says, the attacking animal has not been spayed or neutered.

Richard Steffen, staff director for Speier, says wording of the proposed dog breed legislation is likely to be amended to more narrowly address breeding practices.

"We’ve talked to about 20 animal groups and some victims, and we’ve got studies and the whole thing," Steffen says. Through the process, he says he has learned that requiring specific breeds to be spayed/neutered would get the most leverage with most of the parties close to the issue.

"We’re trying to strike a happy medium," Steffen says.

They have a bad reputation because a lot of the people who choose that breed are bad owners," Carter says. "It’s a very sad situation."

Allen agrees there’s a sizable camp within the pit bull owner world attracted to pit bulls because of their bad reputation. Those owners, she says, tend to be irresponsible about selecting their dogs, handling their dogs, and "pimping them" — a practice that produces future generations of aggressive animals.

"Obviously, there are shady, awful pit bulls out there," she says — an admission that pains her because of her affection for nicer members of the breed. But, she says, "it is an aberration to have pit bulls going after people."

The original pit bulls were bred as fighting dogs, according to an SPCA primer on the breed. The bulldog-terrier mixes were deliberately fearless, with a high tolerance for pain. They tended to be aggressive toward other dogs but extremely tolerant and docile with humans.

Allen says she is careful with Isabelle, who she says plays nicely with dogs she knows, but is wary of unfamiliar dogs.

She doesn’t worry about the dog’s regard for people. Five months into a pregnancy, Allen says she is confident Isabelle will be a great companion for her baby.

In fact, Isabelle just passed the "Canine Good Citizen" test sponsored by the American Kennel Club.

"She loves to be picked up," Allen says of the 5-year-old adopted dog. "I dress her up, I paint her toenails. She doesn’t care; she loves the attention."

Sorry this was so long, but I just wanted to add my 2 cents worth. This is from an article in the Santa Cruz paper on 7/25/2005

I think you are encouraging people to hate pitbulls. I know for a FACT that if anyone ever came to my house and hit me in front of my dog she would without hesitation rip there throat out. I trust her with my little brother she has NEVER hurt him. She has NEVER nipped or bit a small child pulling on her ears (boxers have VERY sensitive ears btw) There are circumstances that happen where yes dogs do bite but dogs are pack animals and they are very protective over there family and there territory. awarness needs to be raised more on STUPID people who come up to a pitbull on a chain and say OH WHAT A CUTE PUPPY and try to kiss it. People need to learn to keep there dogs on chains or trained. But mostly its people who dont understand the dogs need for personal space. it disgusts me that someone with a rot (im assuming since your name is rottiegirl) could ever post something like this. Id never post anything bad about boxers...and yes they are all connected because they lead to people beliving ALL dogs are dangerous.
