Has anyone heard of TEKS KENNELS in Cloverdale, IN?

I purchased a puppy from these people in November 2005. She is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and has never had any health problems. Best dog ever.

However, I ran into problems with them regarding shipping that dog. The Western Union was sent to Wally Workman, FYI. They said they would ship one date, and then said they had to wait a week until the puppy was old enough, which was fine, but they also should have known that to start with. So the next week, I get a call saying they have to postpone AGAIN because he had to rush his wife to the hospital. So the next week they FINALLY shipped her, but sent her to the WRONG AIRPORT, so I had to drive to LAX from San Diego to pick her up, and they had told me they would ship to SD! The only reason I even KNEW what airport was because I tracked the flight during the day! But after we got her, everything was fine.

We recently contacted them again to get another puppy (since the first was so good we thought we'd get one from the same people again). I spoke to her last night on the phone (317-217-0773 contact number, email [email protected], they said the [email protected] got a virus and doesn't work anymore) and they emailed puppy pics this morning. However, she said the have 2 F, 1 M puppy, and the two pics I got were of the same dog, one was just further away and it looked like they were trying to pass one dog off as two. I have requested additional pics, not sure if they will produce any, but after finding this thread, there is no way I will be purchasing another dog from them!

You are very lucky you got a healthy dog. Can you believe all this stuff about her?? There's tons of people on this lawsuit that I never even heard of. So it was way before June 2006, when I first came into contact with her. Dogs dying one after another, it is just shocking & so sad!! She just needs to gut that place out to get rid of whatever is going around there. See, just to send you 2 pictures of the same dog is dishonest. She is dishonest all the way around. What kind of dog were you looking to buy from her? Another Cavalier? This is why we keep a close eye on this site so we can warn people & stop them from buying puppies from her & chancing getting ripped off like a lot of us have. Thanks for your story.

Yes, we were looking to get another Cavalier. Instead, we are going to check out a local lady who has a litter. I hope this woman gets brought to justice. I cannot believe everything I have read on here...

We have a black & tan (with some white, so you might consider her a tri). Her name is Indy (cause she came from Indiana). We had another name picked out cause we were supposed to get a male, but she sold him before we sent the money order, so we got the boy's twin sister.

I cant believe this just never ends!!! Sorry I havent been around but my identity was stolen thru paypal and that has been my last nightmare. I do think I need to give up on computers. I want you all to know that Yogi is great, a little Pug that came from them however I dont believe it was ever one of their dogs, way to healthy! Can't believe this

I just bought a dog from this so called "Tammy" on Tuesday night and just found this forum last night, explaining all her scams. I can't believe it...I had no idea. I guess my girlfriend and I just got so excited that we foud the dog we were looking for only an hour away, that we didn't take time to research her. The puppy appears to be very healthy and active. She's a 10 week old beagle bulldog mix. We are taking her to the vet tomorrow to get her checked out because now we are worried about what may happen to her after reading all this. We will keep you updated on what happens.

Our French Bulldog

I posted on here before about getting a frenchie from Tammy Gilchrist. Well we picked him up about 3 weeks ago. He was checked by a vet the next day and was disease and parasite free. The vaccinations that he was give were of good quality and we use some of them in our practice ( I'm a vet tech) the house was clean and didn't stink even though there were a fair amount of dogs in there. Overal after hearing what I have on here I was taken back by how things were ( clean and everything). We also see 2 pugs and a puggle that have come from tammy with the oldest one being 3yrs and they are all problem free.

Maybe Tammy is trying to "CLEAN UP" her act! I have not heard of any new horror puppies stories lately. I was getting about 2-3 emails a month from people who did not have good experiences with her. Maybe this is a good sign.

I'm glad for you that have got "healthy" dogs from Tammy. Mine and my husband's hearts are still breaking over our precious little "POCO" that we only had for 6 days in January that was sick when we got her from Tammy and she died. The house was nasty and smelled when we were there. We were just talking today how much we miss little POCO and how upset we are at Tammy for what she did to that beautiful little puppy. All we have now of her are our memories, some pictures, and broken hearts.

I've just read each and every post in this thread. To all of the people who have been scammed by this TRASH , I feel for you, I really, really do. This Tammy and Julie give HONEST, RESPECTABLE PUREBRED BREEDERS a hard way to go.

TO ANYONE JUST PICKING UP THIS THREAD:
If you are searching for a puppy, PLEASE, PLEASE RUN FAR AWAY from sites that "aid" these byb and puppy mill types...such as nextdaypets, puppyfind, etc etc....These are not the best places to find such an important member of your family!

ONce you know what breed fits your lifestyle, PLEASE go to the akc site and look up the web addy for that breed's parent club....EVERY recognized AKC breed has a parent club. That will be your ABSOLUTE best way to start on the internet if you don't know where to go.

Second, GO TO A DOG SHOW! Or two! Responsible breeders only breed to better their respective breeds and take great pride in the puppies they produce. They will be all to happy to talk with you but be prepared for questions! No responsible breeder will "just sell a puppy" to the first Joe that walks up with $$$.....

TAKE YOUR TIME! If you truly are willing and you want to add a dog to your family, you will still want to do it a month from now...6 months from now...or longer...until you find the RIGHT breeder with a pup that will fit your lifestyle.

Steer clear of newspaper ads, internet ads, PET STORES, and the like. NO RESPONSIBLE ETHICAL BREEDER NEEDS TO ADVERTISE! THEIR REPUTATION IN THEIR GIVEN BREED WILL SPEAK VOLUMES!

After reading thru all 20 some pages, for the prices that were paid for these poor puppies, a puppy of the same breed from a ETHICAL BREEDER of pet quality WITH HEATLTH GUARANTEES and a lifetime of support and friendship could be purchased for roughly the same amount, maybe a little more.

This post is not to criticize ANYONE who has had to deal with these trashy women....my hope is to educate POTENTIAL puppy buyers that there is a RIGHT WAY to go about finding such an important family member.

Teks Kennel / Tammy Gilchrist--Court Case

I too have been ripped off by Tammy killea. I sent a western union order to her and received neither the puppies nor my payment back. There is a case going against her:

unfortunately I wasn't given much help because there is a two year limitations on complaints against her (I paid for the dogs in 2004 but I filed a complaint at the beginning of this year). However, I work at the US attorneys office in Richmond and the attorneys stated that there might be a chance to take this as a federal crime if there are more people who can show that they did their transactions/communications online (I have emails and online conversations between me and Tammy).However, my monetary loss is not enough.
IF you or someone you know, has been ripped off by Tammy Killea (or the other names she goes by: Teks kennel, puppysrus, Tammy Gilchrist), Please contact me at [email protected]. I am willing to bet that most people have failed to file a complaint (since there were only about 14 victims against her on her case)...so I would like to do something about it.

I recently adopted a puppy from Tammy Gilchirst/ all her other aliases. Unfortunatly I did my research after the fact now that my puppy is on Death's Door Bed. My puppy has parvo virus which all of the docs have said he came with. We have had him less than a week. She lied about the age and probably the breed of my puppy. I dont really care what type of dog he is but the fact of the matter is she lied. It seems to me that is all this woman does; gets puppies in and then mills them out. I highly doubt my animal got any of the vacinations she said she got for him. I am concerned not only for my pet but also for all the other puppies it came in contact with. Parvo is highly contagious and often times is deadly to small puppies and dogs. I called her and of course she denied having any
responsibility in his declining health. Reality says my puppy will die. I want to stop this woman from killing more animals and breaking more peoples hearts. I will be taking action privately. She's Still Out There!!!

I am so sorry about your sick puppy!! Hopefully he/she will pull through it & live a happy life with you. What kind of puppy did you get from Tammy?? Where did you see her ad/ads?? She has no sympathy for the pups, if she did, she would clean her place out & try to get rid of the parvo that is lingering around her so called "PET RESCUE CENTER". Very sad that the pups she claims she is rescuing, die when they reach us. SO SAD. I do not see that as a RESCUE CENTER at all. I have heard from people around the area that have said when the puppies die, she throws them in dumpsters. That is not a pet loving person in my eyes or a rescue center. Take good care of your puppy & maybe, just maybe, your pup will get through this.
