Can we all agree to disagree? He is a very cute pup and after all the deed is already done!! All we can do is to be nice and help and support Bentor, somewhere down the line he/she may need our help on something a little more serious and if we continue to attack then we will be failing that poor pup!! After all looking after and caring properly for a dog is hard work and doesn't come naturally to everyone! Sometimes you need a shove in the right direction and that's what these forums are here for!!

Please guys lets play nicely!!

Well I wanna thank Pixie and Katooka for being calm and friendly about this whole thing. Other than those 2, you are the biggest group of unfriendly people I have ever met. The first time I ever post on these forums and all I get is an angry mob bashing me and my family for something that YOU believe in. Apparently you have no appreciation for a mutt on these forums and I will take my discussion to another place.
Not a problem and I hope you change your mind and stay. I obviousely love mutts my dog (in my sig and avatar) Pixie is a Saint Bernard/Lab.

But also alot of forums you join may have around the same reactions.

I do hope you stay though.

His name fits him ;) He'll thank you in the long run :p Oh, and please take pics of the puppy reunion, we'd really love that!

And I'm Not speaking for everyone, but even though I disagree with 99% of the things my brother does, if anyone said to me that he was irresponsible, even if it was true, I would be defensive. He's My brother, and no one can call him that but me :p

orion, it's not just what you said, it's what you also didn't say. Don't people realize it's their attitude toward a certain thing that reflects how they feel. If this was an isolated thread I'd say that maybe I mis understood or perhaps was too sensitive or something. But I've felt for a while now that not all, but a lot of chaz people do feel that pure breed dogs are superior to mutts... it's obvious in the threads and comments following the threads. I am just simply reminding everyone that a dog is a dog... they dont' know what breed they are, they just know they are a dog.

Not all dogs are equal in their abilities. All dogs can provide a great companion and friend, but not all dogs can work. Im sure we agree on that.

No one here dislikes mutts, the point was that breeding them just for sake of breeding is wrong. Its a dog forum, Im sure we all love dogs.

I hate it when I don't proof read my post before I submit it and then go back and see spelling errors and typos. I just got all in a tizzy and started typing.
I usually don't get involved in these type of threads because I HATE conflict. But I just felt compelled to respond to this one. And I hope no one has been offended by what I have said. I just LOVE ALL DOGS. Heck, I love all animals.

And orion, I'm not trying to pick a fight with you.. I just wanted you to realize your comment was hateful.

If you'll go back and re-read, I think you'll find that although Orion's comments were abrupt and not the most diplomatic or sensitive, what most of you are responding to is the interpretation that xxxpoo so helpfully  insinuated.

The problem isn't really with the breed or non-breed of a dog; it's with unthinking/unknowing breeding with no regard to the physical or mental health of the lines. And not everyone has had the opportunity to learn about these things. Ignorance is not knowing; stupidity is not caring to know. There's no shame in ignorance; stupidity is unconscionable.

I've yet to see a puppy that wasn't cute and appealing and didn't deserve a loving home, no matter what its breeding, how impaired its health or how sad its plight, but it really is a horror to stop and think of how many pups don't live long, healthy, happy lives because someone just didn't think it through before breeding a litter.

I apologize about talking about breeders that way. It does look like breeders are in it for the money when you don't know that much about the subject. Especially when you are looking for a pupy and the cheapest one you see costs 500 buckaroos. I didn't realize how much money was put into breeding.

But orion. Maybe you do speak the truth. But don't you think there would be a better way to say certain things without having to worry about offending anyone? To me, it sounded like you were insulting my dog and my sister all in one sentence. Put yourself in my shoes and try to see how I felt about this whole thing.

renee, that was well said. And I do think most people will agree about purposely breeding mutts is a no no. It's so hard to understand how people sound in their threads or posts when you are just reading words on a screen. You can't hear whether it is sincere, compassionate, insulting or condescending...etc. So, it's all a matter of interpretation of the reader. It is very easy to take something the wrong way which is perhaps what may have started to happen here. I know everyone here must love dogs or they wouldn't be here. I guess I just want everyone to respect everyone else and realize that not everyone has a designer, fancy or rare breed of dog. But we all are seeking the same thing.... friendships, caring, advice, constructive and TACTFUL criticism, support... etc.

I never try to insult anyone really, at least not intentionally. Sorry if my comments made you feel unwelcomed. :)

Well if everyone thinks you shouldn't breed muts but should breed pure bred dogs then you are also in the wrong. Those breeding pure bred dogs are doing it for the purpose of profit. Plain and simple. If you would go out and buy a pure bred then you are in the wrong because you should have gone to the shelter and get a less fortunate homeless dog. And yone who would buy a pure bred dog and bash me for getting a mutt is a hypocrite.
The breeding of purebred dogs be responsible breeders is not about profit. If I never spent another cent on dogs and I sold 2 litters every year for 1,000 a puppy I'd never catch up.

Let me just recap the last several years:

Let's start with the van..... 17,000.00
2003 stud fee....................1,000
ER section...........................850
parvo treatment for 3 puppies at 10 weeks of age....3000
no surviving puppies.
purchase co-own on puppy in 2004.....800
Show puppy for a year.....average probably..... 3500
Health testing..................450
dog food, per month for 3 dogs for one year......2400
Vet care for one year..............................1500
Fencing over the years...............7000
crates, bowls, buckets, collars, leashes etc over the years.....2500
training classes and seminars for the past year............350

You do the math. Breeding dogs responsibly is an expensive HOBBY it is not a money making venture.

Those who make money breeding dogs are corner cutting pups for bucks breeders who are NOT going about in the right way, or for improvement.

Those of us who breed the right way for the right reasons spend buckets of cash, along with blood sweat and tears to put dogs out there who are excellent examples of their breed.

It's NOT about the money.

Not about that at all. Except how much we SPEND to do this.

Hopefully, this won't take us too much off on a tangent, but I feel that I should note that many people have had very bad exeriences when choosing their puppy based on the cheapest price available. Do a search for TEKS kennels in this site, or Google, for that matter, to see what I mean. If you are buying a pup for less than $500, you might do well to look elsewhere.

Well I'm glad to see that little tiff calm back down lol. I didn't mean to ruffle anyone's feathers. I didn't realize how you all felt about this whole issue.

But on a lighter side. Here's another pic :D
Camera phones are horrible.
