My work entails me to take my dog and to patrol with him and yes; to be paid for doing so. Ah yes, a true working dog. How many of you here are PAID by several clients to actually patrol with your dog? I am not talking about my students (in the hundreds) but I am talking about actually working your dog on the street?
But that doesn't mean sh!t to me. What about the people who don't want a patrol dog but a family pet? Your using these methods (not to mention that god-awful wooden contraption) for basic obedience! These are not daily, life and death situations, it's a friggin pet. Seems like overkill to me.

Not a one of you...
How the HELL do you know that? Oh that's right, you know everything, sorry I forgot.

In my opinion, a dog that works for a living trumps any dog that does agility or obedience, no matter how far they advance in competition.
So what does that make pet dogs, then? I have never heard such a ridiculous statement in all my life. Just because you can send your dog to bite someone (woop-de-frickin-doo! why anyone needs to teach a pet dog to attack anyway is beyond me) means that it is somehow better than dogs who don't "work"?

I would rather be the pet dog that is not subjected to abuse who competes in 'lowly' obedience competitions than some working dog who has to suffer at the hands of some moronic macho man "trainer".

All ANIMALS CORRECT each other no matter what animal it is!!
and my point is that animals correct each other... birds to birds. deer to deer. cats to cats. but the last time i checked different animals didn't correct each other. i never saw a cat correct a deer or a deer to a bird.

also mr richling. what i have heard on here disturbs me as you could probably guess. but i have sent you a pm because email wouldn't work. please respond. i do not wish to get into a confrontation with you it's just i wanted a copy of the book :)

Mean dogs, to some men, are like fast cars and guns. I think you know where I'm going with this.

:hail: Exactly! Dogs aren't stupid, they know that we aren't dogs! If they thought we were, dogs with dog aggression would be attacking people left and right.

I ended the conversation in the middle of one of his political rants because I realized it was pointless to try to talk with someone like him.
I can see why you ended the conversation. It is naive to think one can have a rational and polite conversation with someone who thinks it's OK to hang a dog by his throat until he cries out or hits him with a stick. If someone had that ability, had the stuff it's made of to be rational and reasonable, willing to listen to another way, they wouldn't be taking dogs' well being in their hands in this irresponsible manner in the first place.

Have you ever been to a seminar by Steve White? Do you know who he is? You ought to look him up.

I don't understand why Mr. Richling won't talk to everyone in this open forum? Is it because he can't get all of us to drink his Kool Aid on his training ideas in this forum?

Does it really surprise anyone that Mr. Richling talks down to or discredits anyone that doesn't believe in his way of thinking?

I'm guessing the people that pay him to work are like his clients, they don't know any better.

The switch or baton labeled F is the device that I noticed that Mr. Richling clients were using in training.

Hi Guys!
This can be quite fun as I read this stuff which is totally interrupting my day.
I want to be able to send my book free of charge to any person who wants one.
They keep taking my personal contact info off of the site.....so I am left with no other choice but to defend myself here.
So.........fire away with your questions.
I know I will be wasting time and energy...but go ahead.

Weeellll the website says he does. The poster who witnessed it said he does. And what purdue describes seeing, says he does. He doesn't deny it. Have you read the posts?
'
And it seems he is verbally abusive to people on the phone. Which is why I have no desire to take it private with him, if he is to cowardly to say it here, where all can see, then I don't want to hear it. (sorry happyhound you had to experience that..but I kinda figured that would be the case)

Hey, I have never done a chat forum before.
How does it work? Will new responses just come up or do I have to hit refresh?
