the rarest dogs i've met
boykin-housed one for one of my marines many years ago, very sweet dog lots of hunt.
dogo argentino- hunted w/ so many they just don't feel rare to me
basenji-new one as a kid & saw one being walked the other day, checked w/ the lady to make sure it wasn't a decker
lacy cur dog- met one while hog hunting in TX, the only cur dog i think of as rare
pug-not really rare but she is my SILs dog and is super fit, unlike all the others i've met in person and is laying on my fleece blanket snoring right now
cane corso- marine i knew came back from embassy duty in italy w/ two
whippet- not officially a rare breed but how many have you ever seen, just one neighbor to my in laws in IL
german pinscher-random meeting while traveling
manchester tarrier-random meeting while traveling
cresties-went to church w/lady BYBer
salukiXgrey-own one, sweet boy but a real doofus
yorkie- i know, but this one was about 12#, B&T wirehaired and all hard terrier temp lady had it at the dollar store and claimed it was papered, doubt it's pure but if true would be a crazy throwback
patterdale- freind in IA uses them for coon, sweet little killers, LOVED them and want one badly
lurcher- friend in SC also had two littermates to my salukiXgrey
hunting bassets (think foxhunting but on foot had harrier crossed in for better mobility & tighter skin)- belonged to owner of the plantation my lurcher friend managed, she was friends w/ my longdog's breeder who also kept hunting bassets
tosa inu- matches in Japan, not really rare in that setting
rhodesian ridgeback- seen a LOT in NC & TX, so don't think of them as rare
newfie-daughters' gymnastics teacher had two bronze
staghounds & coldblood greys- i don't feel like they are rare, but friend w/ the patterdales had them and running walkers and one july hound
trigg hound- neighbor few years back had one, very sweet hound nice voice
coonhounds-met all of them but don't think of any as rare
afghan-lady that groomed my moms toy poodles had two and showed
borzoi-used to see 3 in a yard across from one of my elementary school, rowdy & goofy
plotts- seen a bunch, liked some didn't like others
catahoulas- seen em since they were just leopard dogs, if i had a dollar for everyone i'd have a fat little e-trading account for retirement
blackmouth curs- seen a bunch of them too & liked most
mt curs- seen plenty, don't feel rare to me
tibetan mastiff- saw at vet on sonic's last check up in NC
mcnab-seen one here in UT last time i lived here, belonged to a rancher
malinois- seen a bunch of military ones so they don't feel rare either
dutch sheperd- one military K9, very nice intense dog, not for the average person at all
bouvier-friend in high school had one, liked it good protective nature
brussels griffon- are they rare? littlest brother bought one and pawned it off on mom when he went to college
chessie-?, seen plenty in NC & DWs best friend has one they got in NC
old english sheepdog- had a couple of different neighbors that owned one each
water spaniel- can't remember which one it was along time ago
jagdterrier- friend in TX hunts hog w/them & dogos nice intense little dogs
gordon setter- neighbor had one that knocked up my dobe in high school
viequenzie- native pariah dog of the island of vieques, one was official mascot for navy det there in early 90s
can't remember where but have met these in passing as well- groenendale, scotch deerhound, irish wolfhound, red & white setter, giant schnauzer?, welsh springer, swissie, vizla, flat coat, keeshond i think that's it
