Usually when I add new stuff to my iTunes and then plug in my iPod to update, it just adds in the new stuff and everything is gravy.

Tonight, everytime I add a new album to the library, it erases everything else that I had on the iPod and just puts on the new stuff. So I went from having 15 albums to 3...I'm having to reload everything.

Why?? I haven't changed any settings...

Dunno . . . Mit had to help get me up and running on mine, lol! I do all of mine manually, although at some point it will probably make sense to just re-do it all automatically once I have all of my [currently owned] CDs loaded along with the entire catalog I've already got from downloads

I think I've passed 1000 so far - about halfway through maybe . . . I'm such a junkie :D

If I listen to too much violin music at a time I'll sit there with tears down my face

Good thing there is Spacehog . . .

Oooh, speaking of which, would you (when you have the time) send me a list of violin/classical stuff I should really have on mine?

I'm small...I only have about 400 songs...though I'm starting to go through my dad's classic rock and blues albums to see what I can find.

(I just added Charlie Daniels Super Hits tonight. :D )

Anything played by Itzhak Perhlman or Isaac Stern for starters :)

I have a real obsession with fugues. That's one of the first places I want to start when I get that Vivo2. Talk about knocking the rust off the hard way, lol!

I really need to score a copy of The Art of the Fugue.

I seriously hope you are able to get that before May...I just want to be able to look at it in person... :D

OH! The In the Pines show the other night...one of the violins was a modern electric, so it only had the neck, chin rest and one little curve of the right shoulder so the overall effect was of an 's' shape.

I looked at that one and listened to a sound clip of it . . . can't remember which one it was though . . . if it's the shape I'm thinking of . . . .

I'd better have mine WAY before May . . . one way or the other ;)

Is your library staying the same? I'm assuming you're adding it with iTunes?

Now I'm not 100% on this, but I think that it syncs your iPod with whatever is in your iTunes library. So if you delete something from your library and then update your iPod, it'll delete it from the iPod as well.

This also means you can never move any music that is catalogued in your library because iTunes will see it's not where it thinks it is and delete the songs from your iPod.

iTunes really is a piece of crap. Apple did not design it very well at all. Took me forever just to add all my music since you can only add one album at a time. And then a couple days later I figure out I can never move any of my music files now unless I'm missing something.

The way Demitrious explained it to me it sounds like you can easily add your entire library all at once. I've been doing mine one at a time because Charley's got stuff downloaded that I don't want to load onto my iPod. But once it was explained it's been so simple . . .

See that was my problem. I have a lot of music on my computer that I don't listen to but I keep around in case friends want to listen to it. So I didn't want stuff I wasn't even gonna listen to on my iPod.

In retrospect, what I should have done, was put all my music albums into one folder and just uploaded that entire folder at once. I was thinking about doing that and did a test trial of it even but once I found out that when I moved the folders back (I like my music library to all be in the same folder) iTunes deleted it from my iPod, I went back to adding them one at a time.

Now if you could select multiple folders at once and add them all at the same time, it would've been cake. But instead they had to limit you to one folder at a time and make it pie.

I hate pie.

Itunes is great.. you just have to know how to use it to it's full capabilities..

Just look at your settings again in Itunes... Maybe you flipped something on accident?? Is it your playlists that aren't uploading, or the songs themselves? Maybe the songs are on there, but the playlists are gone..

You don't have to have it sync to your entire library. You can make it sync to individual playlists. That's the way I would recommend doing it.

I had had it set to sync up each tiem it was plugged in and add all the new stuff I had just put into iTunes. Nothing was moved or deleted.

It turned out to be an easy fix, I just clicked it over to "sync all music" or wahtever it actually says and got it all back. I'm a little leery of adding anything else now though...
