For the first time ever, a Japanese research team has filmed and captured a giant squid.

Amazing article and video. The female squid was 24 feet long, small by giant squid standards. The scientists were trying to capture the squid alive, but it unfortunately didn't make it.
This scientific team is awesome. Earlier this year, they took the first still photos of a giant squid in the ocean.
Wow. I hope they're able to capture another squid, only this time alive. Even if they only tagged and released it, I'm sure it would provide a wealth of information.
