For the first time ever, a Japanese research team has filmed and captured a giant squid.

Amazing article and video. The female squid was 24 feet long, small by giant squid standards. The scientists were trying to capture the squid alive, but it unfortunately didn't make it.

This scientific team is awesome. Earlier this year, they took the first still photos of a giant squid in the ocean.

Wow. I hope they're able to capture another squid, only this time alive. Even if they only tagged and released it, I'm sure it would provide a wealth of information.

That is pretty neat. I just hope they don't end up killing a bunch of them just to get one.

Zoom, my thoughts exactly. It sort of upset me that just to get one captured it lost its life. Why do we want them anyway? To learn more about them?

They wanted it alive but either something went wrong or it simply can't take less pressure, remember these squid live very deep in the ocean.
