Not ALLOWED to be there or just weren't asked to be there?

I would need to know the circumstances behind it.

But if hannah was going to someone's house to play I wouldn't always be tagging along but if the parents told me I flat out was NOT "allowed" to be present then that is a no go. I may not WANT to be there but I am ALWAYS ALWAYS allowed where my child goes whether you like it or not :)
Exactly. I'm unclear as to what you mean by the question. Not allowed, or not asked?

Heck, my boys are 8 and 11 and my 8 year old went to a friend's bday party at Pizza Hut and I asked the mom if I should stay and she told me "No, go do running around, or whatever you'd like and just come back to get him at 7 pm"
HA! Don't have to tell ME that twice!!!!!
I was outta there!:rofl1:

Thanks to all who answered.

Sometimes I wonder if i'm not crazy the way the people around here look at me for not wanting my son around this man.

LOL Yeah :rofl1:

and unless I was specifically asked to stick around I wouldn't. FREE babysitter ... what could be better lol. but if a parent flat out tells me I am not ALLOWED to be there while my child is there... that I have an issue with. Why would someone feel the need to forbid me to be there?

this doesn't mean that I believe I should follow Hannah around and interject myself into all of her social outings... I don't. but I have to be a little leery about another parent flat out telling me I can not be where my child is. maybe I am paranoid but if you are so worried about me being present..makes me think you have something to hide from me.

In your situation, that is a definite NO. If any person ever did that to my child he would be darn lucky to ever see my child again WITH other adult supervision.

If I am told I am "not allowed" to stay, then my child wouldn't stay either. I certainly won't expect to stay at all birthday parties and playdates, but if I am ever told I am not welcome, then my child will not be staying either. The only exception would be group events with churches, schools, and such.

Yeah.... I've left him before with other people and at other parties... but there is always adult supervision and I always know one of the adults present. This guy's just something else.

My ex's kids are having birthdays this month.... they want my son (8 years old) to come to a Wii party. I was told I am not allowed to go. My ex will be the only adult and there will be three children in attendance aside from my son.
I would be fine with it.... except.... this man took to shutting my son in CLOSETS for time outs and then sitting on him in the closet if my son screamed or kicked or hit trying to get out of the closet.
Now you see why I am not with the man anymore.

I consider this a safety issue. I don't allow my son where he isn't safe. Now if I could go, or some other adult were going to be there, then fine. But it's just him.

If this were a "you can't go cause we're making something cool for mommies" thing... cool.

Uh, NO! End of story.
