I honestly think you should report the manager to the DM, I think she'd be interested to hear about this. Not only is it absolutely unacceptable behavior, but it reflects negatively on the company as a whole, imagine what other customers thought if they saw it. I can tell you that if I saw this in a store I would at LEAST be sending a nasty email and NEVER ever going back.

I can give you the DM's email if you want to send it without going through company computers. Even if you just give her the time and the date she can go find it on the cameras, watch it, and then decide for herself what she wants to do.
Hell if you don't want to do it, let me know exactly when it was, who the manager was, and I can talk to her about it.

Funny enough I have a ton of clients who wouldn't allow that, hell many find any correction to be too harsh. I'm surprised that so many clients allow Petsmart trainers to be so cruel. I wonder what causes that difference of client base?
I’m sure some of the difference is cultural. I’m in the buckle of the bible belt and "no rod shall be spared†mentality so-to-speak. So a prong correction isn’t going to raise too many eyebrows.
