Hey guys...

I've got people telling me everything from a 5-way to an 8-way vaccine is best for the dogs and I was wondering what you all say.

I want my dogs protected and healthy but I don't want to put money out that isn't needed either. We all need to save where we can.

Thanks!

I don't do combos. I do a distemper and a parvo as puppies, a booster a year later and then titers from then on.

like corgi, i do distemper and parvo then redo at 1 yr, titers thereafter...
rabies at 6 months (though in honesty i do try to hold off till 8 months if lisencing dates work out) and then again repeat in 1 yr and every 3 yrs after that as required by law.

personally i dont like combos of any kind for toy/small breeds or breeds known to be sensitive...

lepto isnt nessicary in our area and is the most common vaccine to cause severe allercig reactions
bordatella, corona and adeno virus arnt realy nessicary unless your dogs go to daycare/dog parks or socilize with other dogs outside their immediate "family" as there transmitted by other dogs...

i follow an absolute MINIMUM vaccination schedual because both chis and cresties are hihgly rpone to serious vaccine reactions.

Mine go to dog shows and when I worked at a kennel, they went there almost daily. They didn't have any of those vax, nor did I or my vet feel it was necessary to give them.

Lepto doesn't provide immunity against all the strains of lepto, plus then if your dog does get lepto, you might not test for it because the dog was vaccinated.

I completely trust my Animal Clinic . The best vets and been in business for over 50 yrs. They don't want to over vaccinate and keep up on things . I don't second guess them as they save me money in the long run !

I give a 7 in 1 without Lepto every 2-3 years, depending on the age of the dog. We have 8 in 1's here, but they included Corona, and I don't vaccinate for it. Nor do I vaccinate for Lepto. So I used 7in1 without Lepto.
