I just started reading the first book on the suggestion of an engineering intern at work and really enjoy it (epic fantasy basically). DH claims that I have now gone full nerd.

Anyone else read/are reading it?

I read I think the first three books probably 10 years ago. I liked them a lot but never kept up with it. I should try now that I might have some more free time to read and whatnot...

I've read the first 3, but then got busy and the library didn't have the 4th one. I did really like them and was olanning on starting back up this winter. My best friend loves the series and has been dying to talk about it, lol. Also.... pretty sure you have gone full nerd. But it's an awesome place to be!

A lot of people really love it. I couldn't make it through the first book, I love the genre but the author's style just bugged the crap out of me for some reason.

Yes!!!

I'm currently re-reading it, and it's even better the second time around. There are so many things I missed the first time. It's just soooo gooood!!

You/anyone else who likes fantasy, might also enjoy the Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson.

I read the whole thing. Binge-read all the ones that were out until Robert Jordan died, then had to wait for Sanderson to pick up the rest of the books... By then some details were a bit fuzzy but I still loved it. I'm guessing that if you read them all in a row now it's going to be even better.

I highly recommend them (and anything else by Brandon Sanderson when you're done - I LOVE his stuff - Mistborn is great but the Way of Kings/Words of Radiance is the best fantasy I've ever read). Want to reread them one day but we've moved twice since so I'm just not sure where the books are at this point, and I have other things to read before I commit to another year of it, lol.

I read them, or most of them. I find the plot moves way to slowly for my tastes. Good story though. I am excited to read the last one as it was written by my favorite author.

(seriously check out Brandon Sanderson's stuff... Incredible world building AND great characters)

I loved it, up until it got so long winded that 50 chapters would happen between characters and by the time he got round to the next book I didnt remember a single thing that had happened. It was really frustrating and disappointing to not be able to follow it, because it has a really good story at its core

I tried to pick it up again last year and yep. Same thing.
