My 5-months old Westie girl was spayed today, and I will go pick her up in about an hour. I was told that I should feed her something light today and tomorrow, and I am wondering what that is - could you give me some ideas? FYI, she is on Royal Canin, but a very picky eater - and by this I mean she is a picky Royal Canin eater, 'cause she eats anything that she sees going in my mouth - she has no problem with anything that I gave her other than dog food.:)

So... do you have any suggestions for me? Maybe soup - and if yes, what kind? I am at a total loss as to what light/soft would mean in this case.

Thanks in advance,
Corina

A little bit of yogurt (plain/organic) would be easy on the belly. Or, boiled chicken (white meat) with some bland white rice.

Thank you so much - this is easy to follow, I will do just that. She will love me for giving her "momma food". :)

How is your little girl doing? I just picked up my girl from being spayed today too. She ate just a little of her kibble and wants to sleep a lot today which is helping her not lick the stitches.

Hi Barb, thanks for asking, she's doing good. She was sleepy yestarday after the surgery, but today she's back to her old bouncy self, and I have to watch her like a hawk so she won't jump on/off furniture. She actually slept so much yesterday the whole day that this morning at 5:00am she was ready to go! :) I'll see how easy it is to have her not lick her stiches - for now she's leaving them alone, but I think that they'll start itching as the scar is healing.

She's annoyed with me because we can't go for a walk to her favorite park, especially since the weather is very good. I am running out of things for her to chew (chewing = not jumping :)), but she still cries at the door because she wants to play outside.

How's your baby doing? How old is she? I hope everything goes well with our girls, but it will be a loooong 10-14 days. :)

I have felt that anything within modification from food to walks is good.

Corina, looks like my dog acted just like yours. Mine is 14 months old; she went through 1 heat. This morning she was up and ready to run. I'm trying to keep her calm, but she wants to play with our other dog like normal. Oh, it's going to be a tough time over here too until she can play and run like usual.
