Just to clarify...I would never tell someone not to go to their vet. My site by no means takes the place of a vet visit.

And yes, I am a practicing vet. I have been licensed for 11 years and work in a busy practice. I mostly see dogs and cats but do treat some pocket pets as well. I do a radio show with a local radio host once every three months. Today, the local news station did a news segment on how Ask A Vet Question was donating profits to the humane society.

Most people really appreciate what I do.

^one of my faves. lol.. Must be how keely feels in the winter!

Although I WOULD like for this "vet" to understand why what she is doing is wrong.. It seems like a lost cause.

Well if thats the case, then its fine with me

as for things people need help on the most common ive seen is

- dog diet (people feeding science diet and other BAD foods..but they have no idea)
- dental health.
- obesity. (chubby dog.. not good)
- how beneficial exercise is for both mental and physical health of doggies!

Maybe an article on which humane grade over the counter (and cheaper) meds can be used for your dog/cat and for what.

By the way, if the Chazhound forum is so against vets helping people online, why is there an ad for "Ask A Vet Online" at the top of the page?

I dunno, I still just see a website that looks like every other affiliate link charge-for-my-knowledge website. They're all over the place and nothing new. Generic dog clipart everywhere, nothing substantial, etc.

I might have more support for these businesses if they took an original approach to web marketing instead of Web Marketing 101 from $internet_provider.

But that's me, on my internet chair, who coded her entire site from scratch, have no affiliates despite being offered by a lot of faceless companies, and prefer to do things in a personal manner. :)

Pet peeves, I has them.

She's a vet... she promotes Science Diet. ;) Most vets promote bad foods because they get paid to do so.
well then my advice to you Dr.Marie would be to suck it up, ditch the science diet (and the cash).. and teach your clients about PROPER dog food thats actually good for their dogs. and not just lots of corn..and by products.

lol...I can't imagine a vet promoting this...people with nothing to gain/loose perhaps.

FTR my vet doesn't use/push SD. ;)

well I figure since the people reading (and paying) for her articles, are not her clients.. then why not? lol

Well guys...you are keeping me busy checking out this thread! I am trying to clean my kitchen here! LOL!

I just want to clarify that I do not charge anything at all for the articles...it is simply the "Ask A Vet" portion that is charged for.

I was just thinking out loud lol

I just don't see a vet that pushes SD as a good candidate for authoring a great nutrition article.
