Wouldnt even touch a prong collar, never mind this barbaric thing
Far easier methods to train a dog than having to use pain

Thank goodness my three are out of the room. I don't even want them to see such a torture device. Talk about abuse. I don't see how they can sell it.
The person that created that should have to wear it. Why would someone even consider buying it? If you have to use something like that one on a dog...then you don't need a dog.

that is definitely a collar for someone who knows what they are doing and only for dogs that are so hard nothing else will work
i disagree, it's not even something that should be used as a last resort. it's just as inhumane as the old method of shooting birdshot (or dried peas in the case of a trainer i know of) at a dog to punish from a distance.

just because a dog is "hard" doesn't mean you have to drastically increase the pain you apply and subjugate it. that's a training philosophy that is so outdated i can't even believe there are people out there who still believe it is necessary.

In my opinion - if a trainer was so "professional" he/she would not need that collar.

I dont like that thing even, and Im train ing a gundog. (I use pinch/choke collars).

When I mention pressure, Im talking about positive pressure, in which the dog learns how to turn it off, and the pressure is a mild to moderate discomfort depending on the dog. Also I dont just assume the dog has learned it just because he did it once, I have to do it over and over and over and over again to make sure he has really grasped it and can recall it the next day. If he falls back, I go back to it again and re-teach it.

I think the worst thing I do is probably toe pinch during FF, in which a string is looped around is two middle toes on his front paw, and I dont tug hard, just enough to cause a mild discomfort, but nothing that would cause a yelp or damage. I also offer lots of praise with this training to make sure my dog keeps a positive attitude throughout training.

Again, Im against this prong collar.

Oh, I totally agree with you, but you know there are people out there who think "My dog is untrainable and needs a collar like this." They probably shouldn't be owning dogs in the first place if they let their dog get to the point where they feel this particular collar is necessary.

I think collars like that should be put in museums as testament to how backwards and outdated training methods were.

Ok, some people are saying this is a prong collar and practically damning them to hell. Prong collars are good collars-- very good training collars, this is NOT, I repeat NOT a prong collar. This is something that looks like it would kill a dog before it could be trained.

And I finally found where Leerburg sounded so familiar... a couple of his dogs are in Rocky's lineage. My breeder owns 1 or 2 of his dogs and he mentioned that they were from Leerburg kennells in a picture he showed me.
