Okay - I have a pit mix that was given to us by a friend. This friend raises pits - specifically red nosed pits. She originally came from a household with kids who had to move and couldn't take her. They couldn't find someone to take her before they moved so they were going to have to take her to the pound and she run a high risk of being put her to sleep. My friend - who raises pits - couldn't let that happen so he took her "temporaily". When he run out of room he tried to find her a home too. It got to the point he was going to have to do the same thing, which was tearing him apart. We had a recent k-9 death in our family so we had room to take her - also "temporaily" because we were getting the foster dog and didn't have room for her either. I put an ad on petfinder.com to try to find her a home and today I received this e-mail:
Hello,I am strongly interested in the Puppy you advertised and i am willing to make the purchase for my Son who is a warm lover of Puppies and i plan to buy this for him as a gift on his B-day and will like you to know am currently not in the State so wouldn`t be able to view or inspect before purchase but believe business is based on trust. Meanwhile i will like you to assure me the pet is in perfect health condition.Tell me how soon i can make the Purchase,I have decided to make payments with a certified Cashier`s check or Money Order through my cousin in the State who would be issuing and making it payable to you on my behalf so kindly update me on your offer.Let me get a response from you soon.Mr BillNB.Kindly get back to me Via my personal email address{[email protected]}
Now of course I'm not going to sell her - she's free to a loving home - and of course I'm not giving her to someone I can't meet myself - I MUST know she's going to a good home, but this seems like a hoax too - kind of like that "my uncle died and left me money but I need your bank info to hold it till I come to the states and you will be richly rewarded for doing so because I live in Nigeria...or w/e"

That one does stink! Might even be someone looking for lab dogs. Have you checked to see if there is a Pit rescue near you that could help you find a home for her?

I have checked and I haven't found one yet. I will keep her forever, room or not, if I have to just to assure she's in a good home (but man it is CRAMPED now :D )

Cramped? Cramped?? Charley's little farm house might - MIGHT be 800 square feet, with ceilings that aren't 7' tall, filled with decades of accumulation, two humans, a 60 pound dog and two 120 +/- pound dogs . . . :D

hahaha - that sound like where we're living!! That's about the size of our house!! It belongs to my husband's grandmother, she's letting us live there for free until we get finished building our house (helps us save up for the house too, since we're doing it ourselves little by little every bit helps). We have 2 cats, 5 dogs - 80 lbs, 67 lbs, 47 lbs, 45 lbs, 42 lbs. REAL CRAMPED!! :p

And thanks so much for the websites...I didn't do them but I will now!

I agree this sounds a little shakey....it could be a loving home but then sometimes "pit" attract those interested in fighting or as said before to sell to a lab.
