What do they do while you're at work? Walker? Daycare?

So true! It is way harder to train yourself not to stress than it is the dog.

Merlin probably would be fine. A dog walker would be nice or even just a potty break midday really, but he'd be okay without too. Dogs are such adaptable creatures.
I know I sure couldn't afford one and I'm thankful to live so close to work so I can just potty them when I go home to eat. Actually my friend is going to sit with Scout on my dinner break today so I can have a solo jaunt with my Lily bug. :)

Jubel is home alone with free reign of the house for 10-10.5 hours on average. No issues at all. Fosters go without a break for just as long, lose or crated depends on the dog. They are all fine. Nice 30 minute walk before they get breakfast and I leave for work, another walk shortly after I get home. Never had an issue.

Most healthy adult dogs (some small dog excluded) should be fine for about 10 hours. People make themselves feel guilty about it but really most dogs are fine with it.

For me, it's not so much the interaction/exercise issue, but the potty issue. With the exception of Jack, I will come home to pee in the house if they're alone more than 7 or 8 hours, and that's with going out several times in the morning, once immediately before I leave, and I watch and make sure everyone pees. My mother and I work opposite shifts (she has a traditional schedule, I work nights and weekends), so they're only alone for 3-4 hours. I currently have two long days because of school, and she comes home on her lunch break to let them out, or it would be around 9-10 hours.

Once I get settled into my new job and the hours there (which won't be for a couple months), then the dogs will be left home alone only about 2-3 hours per day. I'm excited for that.
New job?!?! Details!?!?

our general schedule is alarm goes off at 6, I roll out of bed around 6:30-6:40. Hudson goes outside for 10-15 minutes, then back in. I leave around 7:30, my husband sometime after that. So let's say he gets crated around 7:45. I'm normally the first one home at about 5:30-6. He is fine. I try to keep his crated time to a minimum but, life happens.
