I am trying to get a puppy. But first I need the stuff it. What do I need?

What kind of dog are you going to get? You need to think about that first. Have you done a lot of research?

Then you will need to choose the best food for your dog. Get some bowls, toys and grooming stuff. You'll also need to decide if you want to crate train or not.

If this is your first dog I'd recommend getting an older puppy or a young dog. Or an older dog if you are open to it. That way you won't have to deal with the housetraining and all and you'll be able to help out some other dogs.

I'm getting a German Shepherd pup this Saturday. We got her a light weight collar and leash, food bowls, lots of toys and a few treats. We're getting food with her when we pick her up. We already have all the grooming items already. Anyway, Goodluck!!

Definately a crate if you don't have one already. We got kongs for our puppies; Jedi LOVES it and Daisy can care less. They also have a squeaky toy that they love. We only let them play with when we are around though just in case they rip it open!

get a leash and a collar for your new puppy. Also get a food and water dish (I don't suggest plastic for puppies because mine chew the plastic ones up). Get a good high quality dog food, such as Eagle Pack Innova or Canidae, along with a small amount of whatever the breeder, rescue, or shelter fed your puppy. I got one or two of each different kind of toy until I knew which my puppies preferred (kongs, fluffy squeak toys, balls (different sizes and textures), booda bones, and a tug toy). I also got a pooper scooper, and a stake and tie out cable for our dog. Don't forget a crate if you are going to crate train. All my dogs love their crates. You can get one that is big enough to fit your dog when it is an adult and then put a divider in it so that it can grow with it's crate. I don't bother with dog beds for all of them because they all aren't housebroken yet. Also get some Nature's Miracle or another type of pet accident cleaner. I also got an airtight dog food storage container so that I can store my dog's food in that instead of the bag it came in.
