Outside in our backyard we noticed yesterday there was a bunch of bees flying around (Its not just in a small area either) There is quit a few! and they are all diff sizes too...From tiny to pretty big and they have a lot of black on them.

Skyler LOVES chasing bugs and yesterday he was running around and then all of a sudden he flips out he jumped in the air kicking his front leg (Poor Guy) He didn't cry or anything but after that he did want to go inside!

Plus with mikito only being a puppy still. He is very curious about them.

What can I do to get ride of them ? We tried looking 3 times for the nest but can't find ANYTHING. We tried watching them to see where they go, but they kind of just go everywhere. Along the fence trying each knot hole, in the tress, on the ground....

Any ideas?? I WANT them gone..lol

My golf course gets swarms every now and again but they stay pretty much in the same area. The course just puts up some warning tape and then waits for the wind to shift. Sorry, not very proactive.

They have sticky glue trap things that you can use to catch them. Sorry I don't know what they're called but I know they work for wasps because there's a guy I work with that uses them. I bet if you go to wal mart or home depot and ask for sticky glue trap thingers to catch flying insects they'll know what you're talking about. :p

You'll want to be careful using sticky glue bug traps - if it's not in a protective cage, you could accidentally catch a hummingbird. :(

:yikes: The only one I've seen had a little hole in one end and some kind of sweet stuff to lure them in. Then they got stuck in the glue. I would be horrified if I caught a hummingbird!

Are they carpenter bees? Does your house have a lot of wood structure or do ya'll have a barn or other wood? If they are, you need an exterminator to come out and spray to kill the ones holed up in the wood as well as make the wood a place the bees don't want to hole into and live. (not to mention they DESTROY whatever wood they get into!..........and they sting like nobody's business!)

If they are honeybees, well, those are in trouble and many bee keepers will come trap such bees on your property and relocate them into already established hives.

I'd call a bee keeper to come out and take a look as to what they are. If they're honey bees, they'll remove them for free (or at least they should). If they're not, the bee keeper should be able to give you some advice on what kind they are and how to deal with them.
