Hello guys Ilovedogs56 here and yes I KNOW I made one of these before. This is the more specific better one. Enjoy!

-I want a medium sized dog, like a Cocker Spaniel size.
-I am willing to give an hour and a half of exercise a day to my pooch.
-I want a biddable dog. Not a hard headed dog but also not too biddable.
-I don't want a dog that is aloof I like Velcro dogs that like to cuddle.
-An average day would be a thirty minute walk, thirty minute run, and a Wesson of mental training.
-I want a dog that is good with other animals and dogs.
-No heavy shedding or drool.
-Grooming could be brushing 5 days a week but not frequent trips to the groomers.

Well that's all I could think of at the moment. Buh-Bye! ;)
Okay guys, I think I have chosen the.. (Drumroll please!) BEAGLES!
Can anyone PM me some breeders in MI? Thanks! ;)
Congrats on your decision! Have you met many beagles?

Most of the beagles I have seen don't really seem to match up to some of your criteria of what you are looking for (such as being a Biddable, Velcro dog) but maybe the beagles I have been around have not been average?

Biddableness (?) and Velcroness wasn't major factor for me. Although, I have met plenty of beagles who were VERY velcro. And most beagles I have met were very food motivated. So yeah, it could go either way.

Oh that is good! The ones I have met were mostly wander off do their own thing dogs, not very motivated by food or toys but instead of paying attention/training they would rather take adventures sniffing all the smells! Haha.

I think a beagle is a great match to what you described! Are you considering a rescue dog? Beagles are popular so lots of purebreds in rescue, especially in the south

I don't have much personal experience with living with a beagle, but if they are anything like coonhounds they are super velcro. Not outside because they want to explore and sniff things, but inside I have a train of coonhound on my butt wherever I go. They also love physical affection and cuddling.

Well when you figure out what you would like to do with your dog, you could look at the various groups (toy, herding, working, etc) and look at all the breeds AKC lists within that group. It isn't a comprehensive list of all breeds, but it's a lot of them, especially the more familiar ones.

GSDs aren't always good with other animals and are especially prone to SSA, plus unless you got a really small female they're no where close to the size you want.

Aussies are also quite a lot larger than you have listed.

They're both pretty heavy shedders.

Well I'm open to bigger breeds like 30-90 pounds. And the heavy shedding is alright because I know some tips and tricks. Are they really prone to SSA? Dang. Can that be prevented? I'm not planning to get any other animals though.

SSA can't be prevented...you can stack the odds in your favor by doing things like properly socializing, and choosing an adult dog (past sexual maturity) who's history with other animals you know, or by choosing a breeder who's dogs are good with other animals, but it's always going to be a possibility with a breed like GSDs.

GSDs are also going to be an extremely different dog than the other breeds you're interest in, like beagles, MAS, labs.

Aussies are obviously quite similar to MAS with exercise needs, etc...one main difference being you can't exercise a larger dog inside or in a smaller yard as well. Both breeds can be a bit reserved with strangers/guardy, GSDs much more so. Aussies are very versatile dogs.
