Well it kind of makes sense that people who struggle with anxiety and depression would get a dog, since dogs have also been shown to improve moods.

I would say that's pretty accurate. I'm pretty extroverted these days but I would definitely say I have some neurotic tendencies. I am always pretty "tightly wound up" so to speak. And from my general knowledge of the posters of Chaz where a lot of us do struggle with anxiety; that also brings truth to the study too.

Also I'm most definitely a helicopter pet parent. :p

I can see how there would be a pattern. Some average Joe's need/affection towards their animals can directly correlate with neuroticism, but not all.. just a noticeable pattern within some percentage of people.

I think we here are a special group, heheh. We probably don't apply in their research, if anything some low 1%. There aren't too many people in the world (proportionately) who are obsessed with dogs AND actively involving their dogs in titling, sports, and all that jazz.

I don't give much credit to these types of studies.

This is the same people who did a study that said out of so many 1000's of cases studied that. Out of all fights in bars/pubs it was found that 90% of the time at least one of the combatants had been drinking.

Given the right study group and question wording, you can get about any result you want.
