WOW, what a cure for a migraine LOL. Sorry it isn't a laughing matter. That routine sounds like it takes a while. I am glad it works for you. Sounds like most if it is a tension reliever.
:lol-sign: yes.. told ya I was gonna be blunt ;) . .. but I have actually spoken to many migraine sufferers and their routines aren't that far off from mine. Most of us do what we can to stay off the drugs that can give us not so fun side effects and quite frankly when they are really bad you will do anything to get them to stop.

I gotta jump back in here and say again - several severe headaches in 3 weeks, when you have never had migraines before would be very worrying to me.

I have had migraines since I was a teenager and they are HORRIBLE, but the fact that you have never had them before, and now have had 3 in a relatively short period of time worries me.

Go to the doc and get the CT scan!

definately and if I did not stress the importance of getting into your doc ASAP, then I apologize. Some women DO get migraines out of no where and sometimes they are brought on by changes in your hormone cycle ( I know 2 women this has happened to). So it may not be something serious, OR it may be something far more serious. either way, just going to the ER to get injections every time you have one is NOT the answer. You need to get into your doc as soon as they can see you and you need to start writing down things in a journal.

Hahaha, jjsmom. I completely understand that you would do what you need to. I am glad that you found something that worked for you other than drugs.

Mayasmydobe.....are you sure you aren't pregnant?

lol, I am 100% sure that I am not pregnant considering I have not been active in that way for over 2 years... lol...

Also about the hormonal period type reasons for it, I dont think that is it because I have been on the Depo shot ever since my son was born, so I don't get periods. Do you think the depo shot might be one of the reason's for these headaches?
I didn't end up going to the ER last night, and my headache was gone when I woke up in the morning. I am going to call and get an appointment for asap.
I am going to go to the same doctor that I saw for the first of these headaches and hopefully he will run some tests. I am also going to start a journal for these headaches. Should I right down EVERY day or just the days that I have the headaches?

Also, I cant think of anything that happened three weeks ago to start these headaches.

Thank you all for your advice and concern. I will let you all know what the doctor says when I can get in and see him. He is a very smart guy and he is really nice too, I really like this doctor.
As far as the doctor in the ER last weekend not doing the CAT scan, he is my least favorite doctor. Infact, when I call to make doctors appointments I tell them that i will see anybody BUT him. He is very rude. When I was 13 I went in to see him for something and when he went to listen to my heartbeat, instead of putting the stethoscope up my shirt, he just pulled my shirt up to my neck without even warning me or anything. I really dislike this doctor. When i was in the ER he barely talked to me, the nurse did. I think the doctor asked me just two questions, the nurse did most of the talking.
I know several people who refuse to see this doctor.

That is too bad that you had such a crappy doctor. I am glad you like the one you have now though. I would make an appointment but I honestly don't think there is anything to be concerned about.

Yes, make a diary EVERY day. I have mine pegged down to 3 things from doing that. Neck rubs from Scott, too much sugar and too much caffine. Good luck and I hope you can figure out what is triggering these.

orgasm is actually one of the suggested methods for relief on the pamphlet that my doctor gave me. I had different triggers as well, harmones was a huge one and after my hysterectomy that ended completely. The other was more complicated. AT first they thought it was stress, and gave me an antidepressent thinking that would help. When it didn't they titrated it up so much they gave me tachycardia and thus they had another drug to bring down my heart rate. Now i was on two and neither was making any difference. It ended up being tmj. And the only reason they figured that out was suddenly my back teeth wouldn't come together and i was in agony. I have been through all the migraine hoops, the different meds, and more then one er at one time. Good luck, i hope you find an easy answer.

i get migranes a lot. usually i drink a nos or any energy drink i can get a hold of. that usually kills it pretty fast. mine are triggered by fast weather changes and... as weird as this sounds... tortillas. just smelling them gives me a little headache almost instantly. and if i stay around where i can smell them or i don' do anything ab out it, it turns into a full blown migraine. i've had them since i was little and it's gotten a lot better. but i think it's just that i've learned what my triggers are and what to do before they turn bad

A combination of the following:
1 advil
1 tylenol with caffeine (Excedrin TENSION FORMULA is JUST Tylenol and caffeine, so I take one of these. Otherwise I take a regular Tylenol and drink a high caffeine drink)
1 benadryl

I often eating a plain hamburger or something else high in protein helps, especially if I am starting to feel sick to my stomach.

If I can have a bowel movement this sometimes helps relieve some headache pressure

A hot shower with my head under hot steamy water fro 20 minutes and a warm wet washcloth covering my face. (NOTE- most people do better with cold showers, but I am one of the folks that gets more relief from the really hot ones)

Then after my shower, I have an orgasm and try to fall asleep.

90% of the time a combo of the above or all of them wipes it out within a couple hours.
I suffer inherited migraines with aura. Tylenol and Advil wouldn't even come close to touching one. I wouldn't be able to even think of a hamburger. Hot showers/Steam will clear sinuses though, which might suggest I had a sinus headache instead, especially if heat feels good. When I have a migraine, I would crave ice, not heat. I have to have complete silence, as sound is a horrendous experience. Darkness is needed because light exacerbates my pain.. Oh, and a gram of codeine. Hopefully, I will fall asleep before I perform a bizzare act, and I am not kidding here. There are stories. But I gotta tell ya that the last thing I am thinking about is an orgasm, especially since I am more apt to be focusing on my aura, which looks exactly like this, background not included. You can see why this would not be conducive to good sex.

definitely go to the Dr but if they are unable to find a cause..... I really suggest a chiropractor. I just always found that Dr's were too quick to just give you pain killers to "solve" the problem rather than to actually do anything about it.

Because it just came on like that in the last three weeks you really could have just put out your neck without even knowing it..... it could have even happened in your sleep.

Also, low iron can really give out some bad headaches.
