I'm bottle feeding a weak pup, hoping not to lose her She's doing ok, maybe a slight possiblity of a little dehydration maybe. A very strong little girl as well!
I came accross this recipe that had tons of positive feedback from its users.

Evaporated Milk
egg white
Sterilized Water
Reg Mayonnaise
Whole Yogurt
Karo Syrup

Claims to fatten them up faster than the cans of formula and get them stronger faster.

has anyone tried this?

Never heard of it and never tried it. I imagine it would fatten them up faster due to the ingredients but I don't know if it would be good on the stomach? Do you have any pictures to see the difference between the pups?

i would use the pet formula available at vet's offices or at local pet stores. I would also back it up with some nutrical. IT comes in a tube and is a very palatable gel. You can take a little on your finger and wipe it on the roof of their mouth where they can suck it down without choking. It is full of extra good calories the puppy needs. I have brought quite a few back that way. IF you pinch the skin up and it stays your gonna need to get her rehydrated fast before she shuts down. THat is very bad. I would not necessarily trust a life on a formula like that. I have raised everything from deserted puppies and kittens to a squirrel and raccoon on the formula i get at the petstore. I can promise they grew up fine, not as good as MOM but the next best thing. Try the nutrical too, it is under 20 dollars for the tube.

I agree with this totally. Pinch the skin gently behind the neck upwards and see if it goes down or stays up.
Dehydration is bad. If she is too dehydrated, the vet will have to give her fluids, it is the fastest way, if it is not too severe, you need to get on it fast.
I had a pup who kept getting dehydrated, I never found out why exactly as she always seemed to be nursing, but she made it ok.
The vet sells a good formula supplement. I used the one from Petsmart and the pups didn't like it, momma did, she kept trying to steal it!Good luck, and let us know!

If this pup won't nurse or Mom rejects it , there's something wrong. Have you vetted it ? Sometimes heroic intervention is not the best.....

I just wanted to post an update. I went with my gut and went ahead and tried the recipe. The tiny baby has since started to actually "suck" the bottle and is consuming more and gaining weight! One of her eyes are now starting to open and she's even ahead of her brothers in that area! Her sister started opening her eyes two days ago. So I'm going to keep her on this, as she seems to be going up hill. I have my figures crossed!!!!

Been wondering !! Will she latch on to Mom now ??

No, not yet??? My vet just told me to keep doing what I'm doing. I was hoping she'd be latching on by now. No luck yet.

Oh....and mom takes excellent care of her. She waits for me to feed her and then she washes her face after I'm done, and cleans her and takes great care of her.

I wouldn't know how..........but there is a way.....PM RedyreRottweilers's she will know how.
Or better still start a new thread asking how :)
Honestly Zoeys milk topped up with the Supplements will do the puppy the world of good b/c Zoeys milk has all the natural goodies that puppy needs to fight infection and such :)

You express milk from a bitch same any any other mammal. By squeezing/stimulating the mammary glands.

I have collected several times. I always collect colostrum the first day, and any pups that need to be supped, I collect the mom.

It can be kept in the fridge for 24 hours, then discard any that has not been used.

Colostrum can be frozen and used for up to a year if I'm not mistaken.
