Is scary.

Yesterday, I had a horrible stomach ache along with nausea. We went home early and hung out and when I was sitting, it felt like I was on a boat. Well, I didn't make a big deal out of it because I was on a 5 minute ferry ride early that day. I had it all night and all afternoon yesterday and it never went away. This morning I woke up feeling okay, but as it got later, I got worse and worse. I felt like I was rocking back and forth, I was walking down the street so carefully because I thought I might fall over. We tried to go up to the Empire State building, but around the 40th floor, my ears were killing me.. When we got off the elevator at the 80th floor, it was bad. I remember walking and feeling like I have a weight on me, like my legs weren't going to be able to hold me up. The elevation made it so much worse. When we were that high up, it was just constant dizziness. uUsually, when I started to walk it would help, but this was just constant rocking. We went to a doctor, he basically gave me prednisone, and the dose is smaller than what they would give to little kids...I think he basically gave it to me so I would feel better, like a placebo, not like it's actually doing anything.
I guess the reason I'm so stressed out this is that I am leaving tomorrow and if I can't do 80 floors high..I don't think I'll be able to do thousands and thousands of feet up in the air.

Ugh, just kinda wanted to vent a bit, also, does anyone else get vertigo-like symptoms? What can you do about it?

I had vertigo related to stress a few years back. There is a drug for it - antivert - but they generally don't hand it out willy nilly ime. My vertigo never lasted as long as yours, but I know how scary it can be! (((hugs)))

You can get antivert, or other anti-nausea/motion sickness stuff at a drugstore.
Though have no idea if that's what you need... but hope you feel better soon! And you missed Maine! :(

Vertigo - i am not a fan of you and i pray that u never return to me or "iwantmypup" ever again!! I am sorry that u are dealing with it :(

Mine started for the first time in May 2010...two months before that, i had an accident. I fell off the horse and hit my head (for the second time lol...my first fall was in 2009). Anyways, check up showed normal head result. Two months after that fall, i opened my eyes one May morning with a spinning crazily head. I remember that it lasted for a good 5-8 minutes or so. i remember how terrified i was while i was seeing the world in front of me, spin in a not normal way. And just like u, as the day went by, i got it over and over. In public, i felt worse as i got it because each time, i thought "that is it...i am falling...or even fainting". I went to the doctor. The same one who examed my head in that accident. We did another Scan just to stay safe but it showed normal result. The doc explained that after head falls, for some people, a vertigo isnt surprising to occur - even if it means not straight after the accident. What also confirmed to him that the accident was my vertigo cause is that the exact part of my head where i first hit in accident was what if i slept/layed down on it, i would get the spinning experience. He put me in a 7 days medication (i forgot what is it called-but if i found it, i will share it with u). I could notice that vertigo was getting better by time. It did not go completely. So doc suggested a sort of physical exercise that also helped.

In about a month or two, i could barely notice it. It was gone for the whole year :)

....BUT last month (of this year), it came back again :( so annoying! It is Not as worse as it was last year and this time, i kindda got it like 10 times maybe, then by time i was getting less of it. I wont get surprised if it came frequent again, but i pray for it to never get back.

U know, the challenging key is to find out the cause for the vertigo. For some cases, it can get a bit challenging to find. For others, it is challenging to fully cure (i know that mine did not completely go away). But i also know that for many others, they got rid of it :) i hope i can one day. Same hopes for u too.

(((hugs)))

I've gotten vertigo pretty bad if I travel too long in the car - I'd forgotten about it, but I have that icky feeling like I just got out of a swimming pool, except it lasts for a few days. And my head doesn't quite hurt, but it definitely feels funny. Not fun at all. =< I hope it goes away soon!
