On top of everything that's going on with my hubby's ankle, we are going to see my parents tomorrow in Savannah, GA. We will be gone for a week. Well, Andy is a little smelly so I though I'd run him by a groomer while I ran some other errands. My normal groomer was all booked up, so I called the petsmart grooming dept. (big mistake I know, but I was desperate) They told me since he was still a puppy -6 months- that it would only be 15.00. Great! So I made the appt and arrived right on time. Well, the stupid lady asks three times what breed of dog "she" is. I finally got it through her thick head that he is a sheltie and she is a he. She prints out the invoice for me to sign....$55! :yikes: I freaked! All I wanted done was a bath and nail trim. She said the cut off age for the puppy package is 5 months. I told her that I had been told $15 on the phone, but she wouldn't believe me. Whatever. I told her that no one in their right mind would pay that much for a bath! My regular groomer charges $25 and that includes nail trimming. Needless to say I left very upset. It was almost a 45 minute drive and i wasted two hours. Andy is still dirty...guess I'll stay up late and bathe him myself tonight.

That's weird...we just had both our guys in for a bath, nail trim, and clean up the feathering trim and it was $50 bucks after tax for 2!! 70+lbs dogs! But that is Canadian pricing, either way tho it sounds way off!
I'd call management.

I asked for the manager but she was in a meeting and wouldn't be out for another hour. I'd already wasted too much time there anyways. Yeah, I thought the price was ridiculous. $55 didn't include trimming or anything. Just bath and nail trim.

Call back and talk to the manager and explain what happened and tell her that you think you should get some kind of store credit for the aggravation that you went through.

Good idea. I should at least get back the gas money I wasted driving there and back

I'm glad you guys think it is a crazy price also. I'm not cheap by any means....Andy is my baby so I'll gladly spend money on him, but that was just ridiculous. I'm going to go bathe him now with my $8 dollar puppy shampo0 :D

I think the think that killed me the most reading your post is that a GROOMER didn't know what a SHELTIE was...

EEK!!

That is a VERy recognizable breed and a GROOMER of all people should KNOW different breeds! EEP!

Mangers are no help at all at a Petsmart or Petcetera or PetCo etc place. They dont manage the grooming areas usually.

Omg.. horrible horrible :(

Send Andy over - I'll get him nice and shiney for you for free lol! :)

That's ridiculous! Some of the people I went to high school with, and a woman I used to work with work at the Petsmart in my area... that would never happen here :p

I definitely. agree - talk to a manager! And if that doesn't work, call corporate! Your petsmart does NOT sound Pet Smart :lol-sign:
