I know this thread could probably fit in the fire hydrant with the other 2 of the same types, but it's more specifically about dog training.
Has anyone else got into huge arguements about the way one of you trains the dogs? I had two arguments with my husband this week end. First time, Boris was nipping at him to play (of course, as he's always reacted to it one way or another, and mostly by putting him on his back and holding his mouth shut...), and he put him on his back again, then dragged him to his crate by the collar when it didn't work... I'm so sick of it. I've told him 100 times to ignore him, and he's like 'I can't, he keeps doing it and it hurts'. Well yeah, of course it does, as he's NEVER ignored him totally when he does it. He thinks that ignoring him the first time is enough. Funny, if Boris gets nippy at me (rarely), he stops after one attempt.
I'm worried that Boris is going to end up getting scared of people grabbing his collar, and that he's going to keep nipping all his life. I mean, why do you think he growls now when he steals something? Because he knows my husband is going to be pissed at him, and he's scared. I've been trying really hard to get him to change, when I told him what I think yesterday he went to the bedroom slamming the door and stayed there pouting for one hour...
Then last night he woke up at 3am because he couldn't sleep. I don't know, what's the reflex of normal people when they have 2 pups and wake up in the middle of the night? Let them out. He didn't. Actually, he didn't even take Boris with him, he closed the door of the bedroom and I got woken up by Boris jumping on the bed. I was too tired, I just got up, let the door open, saw what my husband was doing, and went back to bed. All the while, Tips was being fussy in his crate...
So this morning, he was late (really, I wonder why), and got up to take his shower without even letting the dogs out. Tips was not happy at all, plus someone knocked on the door and it made them wild, and when I got up to let the dogs out, Tips had peed in his crate... Wonderful when he still has stitches from his neutering...
I'm really angry honestly. I'm really tired of having him totally messing up the dog. Why do you think Boris still jumps on people? Because he gives them attention. Whether it's just telling them to get off or sit, obviously it doesn't work because he still jumps. We're spending a lot in fertility treatments, what if one day when I'm pregnant Boris comes and starts jumping on my belly with all his strength (he does that)? And how will he bring up children if he doesn't even listen to my advice when it comes to training dogs?
I'm not even really asking for advice, because I know I should talk to him, and I keep doing it, and it does nothing. I guess I just had to rant or hear people tell me that it will be fine...
