I started my boys on TOTW about 8 weeks ago. I have noticed huge improvements in both the poop and coat department. Their poops are much less smelly and very small (I had them on Canidae for about 2 years prior to switching). The biggest change I noticed when I gave my littlest guy a hair cut. Being poodles, it is really hard to tell coat condition (curly hair doesn't exactly shine, and "soft" isn't really a word I would use to describe them). However, Daltrey usually has little mats in his armpits, which he didn't this time and I had let his coat get REALLY long this time. His fur on his face and ears was REALLY shiny, and his coat (though never as coarse as the other two) was much, much softer. His grooming (which usually takes me at least an hour) took less than 45 minutes. I am sold on this food. It is a bit more expensive than Canidae, but I like it better already!

Question though - my standard is 60 lbs now and 10 months old. I fed them the Pacific salmon because he is still growing. Do I need to keep feeding them only that protein source or can I switch it up. Do I need to leave them on that until he is done maturing?

Thanks!

You can switch up the protein source at any time (except for puppies younger than 3-4 months IMO) ;) In fact, variety is GOOD for dogs :) Glad you are having so much success with this food

Yeah - i hear about a lot of pet owners rotating food pretty seriously. I think that's probably a good way to go about figuring out which food is best and making sure your pup gets all the best ingredients.

Currently I rotate TOTW and EVO. Rotating is good and my dogs have less sensitive stomachs when their food changes around every once in a while.

Yeah I was going to ask you about that part of rotating food - can't it also upset a dogs stomach? I've heard mostly good things about it, but I've also heard of some dogs getting loose stools and bad digestion. Kind of like playing pet food roulette!

I've always heard you need to slowly introduce a new food. I've done that sometimes, and sometimes, I've just changed new foods abruptly.

I've never understood why changing brands of dog food would upset my dog's stomach but eating garbage, occasional morsels from the litter box, dog poop, and any variety of 'stuff' he finds in the yard cause no stomach issues.

In our case, it doesn't seem changing brands of food does upset his stomach....at least not yet.
