I am a member of a few "childfree" groups and there is a lot of stigma surrounding them and many people are trying to get them shut down and are always reporting them for every little thing they post. I was lik WTF??? With all the **** on FB THIS is what people choose to pursue??? What about dogsbite.org, PETA and the **** it posts, not to mention all the inappropriate stuff individuals post.

It's called the first amendment, people (in general), if you dont like the content, you know where your browser's back button is and you know where the "I dont want to see this" option is ... USE IT!!!

By "childfree" do you mean no kids allowed....or do you mean adults who don't have/don't want kids....or something else I might be missing? (I wouldn't qualify, LOL, just curious about stuff and things)

And yes, people are like that. It seems to me the ones who yell the longest/loudest about freedoms are actually only shouting about the freedoms which coincide with THEIR opinions and choices. They rarely want to live and let live....they want THEIR vision of the world.

These aren't closed groups? Maybe it could fix some issues if they were a 'join' type thing?

Childfree means you are without children by choice, generally permanently. :]

I haven't seen facebook be too terribly on top of moderating groups, much less ones that aren't breaking any rules.

Yes, I meant childfree by choice. and they are closed groups, but people still complain about them and try to report them. I guess there are people who think that kids are the. greatest. thing and that if someone doesnt want them they are some horrible, terrible person.

In my experience, being a horrible person is not exclusive to those with kids or without kids. Wanting/not wanting kids is not a litmus test on the subject.

I will never understand why some people are so hung up in the idea that some people dint want kids. I want kids some day but I REALLY don't want to give birth (my fiance does though, otherwise we'd adopt) and my family tells me CONSTANTLY that I'll regret. I honestly think policing others choices is an obsession for some people.

It is an obsession and it's not just with kids. it's dogs, dog training, where dogs can go, what kids should do, what they shouldn't do, how to parent, how not to parent, spank, no spank, healthcare choices, hip surgery or rehab, vaccinate or not to vaccinate, democrats or republicans, pepsi or coke? we could go on and on.

I think that is one gigantic downfall of the internet and social media, now everyone has a voice and they aren't afraid to use it :) So much time wasted talking about life instead of living it. which reminds me, I have stuff to do :)

I have a feeling they are a lesbian couple (nothing wrong with that, though :) ), it would explain the way the post is worded, that their fiancee wants to be the one carrying the kid.

Some people, evidently think that a lack of desire to reproduce means you (general you) are some kind of horrible person.

While I sympathize with the crap people take about being childfree (since I'm childfree myself), I want to point out that the first amendment protects free speech from punishment from the government. It doesn't mean "I can say whatever I want and no one can argue with me because FREE SPEECH." You're welcome to speak your opinion and other people are welcome to argue or call you out. The first amendment does not mean "I can't be called out on my bullshit."

That being said, I think it's pretty rich for you to complain about people not just ignoring things that bother them.

On the internet, its easy to ignore something on the internet esp FB with its ignore features (which work very well, mind you) In person? not so much. You cant just put a silencer on someone's mouth in person.

I guess it is bad that I am a parent and I fully agree with most Childfree things I read.

Took one child for me to realize that I do not like small children and babies are gross. I adore my daughter, she is 16 years old and brilliant, but I do not give a fidge fickle for anyone else's child. Having children should be a personal choice. Just like what kind of vehicle you drive and who you marry. This is what I tell people, if it does not hurt you, mind your own business.

Maybe I need to find a FB group for "Not overpopulating the world and proud of it"

People in general like to be asshats. I am a member of an atheist homeschooling group...pretty much daily we get Christians joining and complaining about it not being religious, or get posts reported for being offensive, or whatever. Definitely not a unique thing to "child free" groups.

Religion. Yeah, I steer so far away from that subject. Well in person I do, to try to keep peace in the family. I married into a devout Baptist family, I was raised a JW but I never believed and I am disgusted by organized religion completely and I possibly even loathe it. I am totally fine with whatever religion or not anyone wants to be.

Anywhere you go on that kind of group thing, you can find people being hateful if you look for it. You can dwell on it, or you can shrug it off. Considering you've come into threads for mothers and informed them how gross and ruined their bodies are, I find it hard to muster my empathy for your cause. You could be angry about anything on the Internet, yet YOU choose to be angry about people being angry about the wrong thing on the Internet. Pot, meet kettle.

I know you weren't speaking to me- but I wanted to clarify (especially because I VERY MUCH agree with the section of your post that I bolded, I teach my high school students this daily) that I do think there's a difference between voicing opposition to something, and trying to shut it down. I agree with the OP in that it's sad that we live in a world where, instead of voicing opposition and thinking critically, people attempt to just shut up the minority. If someone doesn't someone else's opinion, they very much have the right to oppose as loud as they want, but it's sad when they oppose the persons right to voice it. (whoa, too much hypothetical, lol. I hope that was understandable.)

I can't speak for the OP, but that was what I lamented in my response : )

This was more a post about how people can go so cray cray about things one the internet, not really complaining about it, in those groups, as soon as the admins see thats how they are rolling, then they usually kick them out. I dont usually see those posts unless one of the members links them (names scratched out of course) as a discussion topic. I reply occasionally ( I especially love the meme's they come up with, they really make me LOL)

It amuses me what internet people go crazy over.
