I finally got around to reading "A Thousand Splendid Suns" by Khaled Hosseini. I'm about a hundred pages into it. So far I think "The Kite Runner" was Hosseini's better work: it's more honest, and it genuinely moved me.

I'm just about to finish "Stiff - the curious lives of cadavers" by Mary Roach.

I highly recommend it :) Its a non-fiction and is all about dead bodies...its insanely interesting...and oddly enough...absolutely hilarious!!

I just finished F. Paul Wilson's "The Tomb" (renamed later to Rakoshi). It's the first in his "Repairman Jack" series. I thought it was an excellent read. Gonna go to the library later today or tomorrow and see if I can find book 2 (Harbinger).

I'm reading Clan of the Cave Bear, the first in the Earth Children series, by Jean Auel. I picked it up from the library after Zoom mentioned it in some other thread and I'm glad I did.. it's pretty good so far!

I forgot about that book! I got it when I was younger, and it looked really good! My dad threw it in the trash during one of his many hissyfits, though, and I completely forgot about it. I'm gonna have to look for it again.

I didn't give A Thousand Splendid Suns enough credit: by the end, I was near teary. I still give The Kite Runner the edge, though.

I'm currently reading The Sleeping Doll by Jeffery Deaver. Love Jeffery Deaver, the master of plot twists.

Just started Darwin's Ghost. It's a look back at the Origin of Species and draws the points made in the original thesis into modern day examples based on stuff we've learned since Darwin's time.

Other than that I finished the Liveship Traders trilogy (very good) recently and started on Otherland by Tad Williams which is an awesome book so far about virtual reality and time travel and...stuff. I haven't finished it so I'm not sure entirely what's going on yet.

Oh and from my last update:
Next I"m starting The Dungeon by Phillip Jose Farmer.
Crappy book. Turns out it wasn't by Farmer at all, just some dude using the world Farmer invented. It was kind of funny/interesting but it's a 9 book series and there's no desire to learn more about their world on my end.

Edit: OH I forgot!
I also read Dayworld which was by Farmer and it was awesome! It's about a world where the population is too great for the earth to sustain so they have certain people who live on certain days. The Monday people always live on Mondays and once Monday is over with they're 'stoned' for the next week until the next Monday rolls around. Same deal for the rest of the days.

The whole premise is following a 'daybreaker' as he flees from day to day living out his 7 different lives for each day. Pretty good stuff.

I'm working on The Dangerous Days of Daniel X by James Patterson right now. It's a pretty quick read. Probably geared for teen readers rather than adults.

I'm reading the 2nd book of the Earth Children series, Valley of the Horses. I'm actually almost done with it.

I shall consider all of Zoom's book recommendations.
