Hello all,

I am thinking of trying Taste of the wild Pacific Stream formula. I have read great reviews about it. The only thing that scares me is that it's made by Diamond. Any opinions ?

Thanks a mil

I feed my crew TOTW--wetlands formula mostly, since that is what they seem to do best with. Have been feeding it for over a year now--very pleased with it.

I won't feed anything made by Diamond ever again. I had a dog get very ill from Chicken Soup, as did many people, and Diamond refused to even consider that CS might be contaminated. While I'm sure they're foods are currently safe, I lost all trust and respect for the company very quickly.

Hi! :) I've heard good things as well.

I've been thinking of changing what Nanook is on but how do you figure out what formula to go with? By breed? I mean with the TOTW. Sorry for the little hijack

I decided on Pacific Stream because both of my dogs have been on Orejin Fish formula for the past 2 years. I found that both do much better, weight and stool, on fish-based foods. No need for the apology .... you're still on topic :)

I have fed the same formula to my GSD who has food allergies and he does very well on it. His coat is generally nice (not currently, with spring he needs a good blow out), his stool turns white after a day of being in the sun and is crumbly and he only requires two cups of it. I am happy with it. I will switch up the protein source at some point though to make sure he doesn't become allergic to the fish. His ears which are chronically inflamed on Canidae do very well on TOTW.

I think I'd want Nanook to be on a fishy one but she doesn't seem to like fish much at home so I don't know what would be good for her. I guess it's a bit trial and error.

How long have you had him on it ?

Thanks

That's exactly it. I have tried at least 5 or 6 food brands ranging from chicken to beef to fish to bison based until I found out that fish is what worked for them. What works for one dog might not work for another.

Good luck

Jules has been on TOTW for a year (I think) and looks great. Good skin, good coat, etc. Grimmy has been on it since he came home as a pup and also looks good:)

I have Juno on the Wetlands formula. Works for us! I'll be seeing how Lucy does with it soon.

Izzy (Retriever/BC mix) has been on their High Prairie for about 3 months now and has been doing great. We didn't go with the fish-based because she thinks any fish based food is something to roll in, not eat:rolleyes:

I fed TOTW for several months, before switching to Acana. I really like TOTW... my only miffs are, on the fish formula, my dogs did start to smell a bit fishy. And they had decent poops, but not as compact and odorless as they are on Acana. Overall, they had nice coats and condition on TOTW and it has a really good reputation that I know of (besides having chicken in every formula).

I really like the fact that Acana's chicken formula also has fish in it. Their coats do get noticeably softer when fish is a top ingredient in their food, I just don't like the fishy odor on a strictly fish diet. But, I'm hyper-sensitive to fish smells.
