I'm kind of torn on this...
on one hand, it's obviously bull that all breeders are all bad. But, then again, the AVERAGE person doesn't know much of anything about what to even begin to look for in a good breeder. Nor do they care. Health tests, titles, working ability, temperament tests, is all a foreign language to the enormous majority. And the likelihood that such information is going to be wide-spread any time soon is pretty much hopeless.
So, in a way, I'm relieved that at least people are pushing rescue. Yes, even if it comes with a self-righteous undertone. I think it IS one step closer to eliminating greedy, abusive, neglectful, irresponsible breeders, and I honestly don't believe it will greatly affect the good breeders... because those extremists probably wouldn't have ever bought from a good breeder in the first place (being that they obviously aren't too bright or educated anyhoo).
I really haven't heard anything negative about Obama's decision to buy Bo, in the news. I do think it was a bad idea for Obama to say he was going to rescue before the breed decision was even made, however, I'm incredibly happy that they chose a PWD from a reputable breeder instead of a "Labradoodle". Even if they got a "Labradoodle" from rescue, you know "Labradoodle" breeding would be booming even more than it is already. I wish he would make a statement about how Bo's breeder is a reputable breeder, what makes a reputable breeder, and the fact that a GOOD breeder does NOT allow their dogs or their dog's descendants to become shelter statistics.
