Bailey loves to get on my lap for a cuddle (Imagine the sight of him on my little lap )
He has never been one for laying at your feet........until just lately
Is it normal for a dog to suddenly change a habit like this? Or could he be feeling insecure for some reason and thats why he's doing it?

How old is he? As mine mature, they go from big laps dogs to guarding my feet. I would say he might be *gaining* confidence instead of being insecure. JMHO

Hades is a lap dog, Roxy isn't. SHe prefers to lie right by the front door (which isn't far from the living room) and if she's not there she's somewhere close to the door.

As squiddy said too, the floor is cooler so he might be trying to escape the heat.
