Hello everyone, this is my first post, but I've been lurking for about a week now. I got my puppy Lowla (a Dachshund/Terrier Mix approx 11 weeks old) at a shelter last Sunday. It's a pretty reputable shelter that takes good care of their animals. Anyway, she had her spay surgery last Sunday in the morning, so its been a week, and it seems to me that they did a botch job sewing her up..or gluing her or whatever they did. I wanted to bathe her today because she is getting really irritated by all the fleas that keep jumping on board but I noticed last night when I picked away her scabs that her incision is kinda oozy. I figured after 7 days it would be well on its way to healing and definately wouldn't be oozing anything anymore. It's not a lot and she doesn't lick or bite at it, it doesn't seem to hurt or bother her at all, but I'm a little concerned and I know you folks are pretty knowledeable. When I looked at the incision pretty close after I picked off her old dried flaking scabs it didn't look like they lined up her skin very well. I'm not sure if that matters or what. So I dunno, do you think I should be concerned or give it another week? It doesn't seem swollen to me, it's about as bumped up as it was a week ago when we got her and it's not red or painful. Here's a picture if it helps. Any advice appreciated. I hope I'm just being a paranoid new puppy mommy.
