No worries! But I figure I'd respond again so no one thinks that I meant it like it sounded!

Excuse me, all....

I see no reason to jump all over the OP like this. She did not hit the dog, her boyfriend did. And it seems to me that he did so out of ignorance, not malice. And furthermore, she came to Chaz asking for help. It amazes me that some members of this board can be so patient and understanding with a dog who makes a mistake, but will just rip apart a poster who does the same thing.

So, to answer your question....

Your pup can get over this, but you have to regain its trust. Be very gentle, and do absolutely nothing to hurt your puppy. Don't even raise your voice. It will take time to get over, but it is possible.

Do NOT ever hit your pup again. That will definately ruin any relationship with your pup. It will make him fearful, shy, and he may gain fear aggression issues. Be sure your boyfriend understands that.
thanks, thats the only good post i've come across so far

She wasn't being jumped on for asking the question. If you read the whole post, you will see that several users gave her a nice answer. But when she responds to several people by telling them to "shut up", that's a little out of line. Sorry if you feel like she was being "ripped apart", but she also defended her BF's actions which makes her just as responsible.

you dumb tramp, that other person told me to dump my bf which im not going to do over something that can be solved

People are just concerned about your dog thats all. You started out sounding concerned about the dog. You caught your bf hitting it for being bad.

Then you say he just hit it so it would move out of his way and it didn't even yelp.

Sounds like you are taking up for his actions now. I really don't beleive you are too concerned about your dog.

I agree. It sounds like this rude person needs their dog taken away from them for abuse.

I just got into this ... I doubt if the OP will be back, but I hope that this opens the eyes of other situations. When it comes to BFs and YOUR dogs... if there is ANY abuse kick them out or you move out ! There is NO reason for kicking a dog and especially a pup ! I dog can be taught to move ....personally I usually just step over.... but if my hands are full and I'm unsure of my footing.... mine will move when I asked them. Am I the only one who will say "move please" and " thankyou " to a dog ??

Grammy, I agree... I always step over my dog (of course she doesnt take up much room...lol) But if She is "in my way" so to speak, I will just say "Elle, up" and she will get up for me.

Gee... Its not that hard to be nice to your pets.

I'm totally with you Grammy :) My husband laughs at me because I talk to the animals like I do a real person. I can carry on my own conversation with Andy. Oh yes, and I ALWAYS say "please" and "thank you". I'm trying to set a good example you know ;)

Lol thats how I am with my animals. Makes my family laugh but its how I have always talked to my animals since I was little. I'll be bored and i'll look at Disney or Tucker and go "So what you wanna do?" like they will answer back  .

I love when I ask mine "wanna potty?". LOL, they both perk up, start bouncing around and almost put the leashes on by themselves. It's not that they have to go that bad, just that I've always made it fun so they like to go outside and "potty" even if they don't always both go. I ask mine to "move" when they are underfoot. I also talk to them. I'd swear they can understand...even if it is only "feeling" our emotions. :)

Absolutely! Andy is just plain freaky sometimes. I'll jokingly tell him to go "find daddy" or something and he will. I think they understand more then we give them credit for :)

Edit* OMG i just saw that pic of Gunner. He's huge!!! He's gorgeous though :D

You should have kicked your BF in the junk then dumped him for being an a$$hat for thinking hitting the dog will get it to respect him. What are you gonna do when he hits you for disrespecting, not listenning too, or not moving out of his way?

Good point.

I wouldn't trust the guy. And for the record, you aren't going to win much credibility here by calling respected members "tramps". :)
