he's okay folks :) A bit sore, but so far that's all. I'm a bit concerned because I got rear ended pretty hard once, two days later I was in searing pain and I had to have months of PT.... but anyhow, it's an interesting story... it's long!

His truck, which he drives EVERYWHERE and has 200k+ miles on it (only a 97!) is about done.. he took it to his parents' house and borrowed their car because he thinks the transmission is dying. Their car has a history... first his mom was in an accident with it (someone t-boned her at the gas station while hubby was in paying for the gas because the cc machine didn't work, lucky him!!), then his brother decided it's really smart to get really drunk and drive on the curvy roads of WV, ended up flipping it upside down, nearly totaled it. And now, it was my SO's turn!

So, SO is driving on a four lane, very busy road, wet with rain.... he's in one of the inside lanes, merrily rolling along. Some dumb bitch in a gas station decides to dart out and turn left in front of him (to go into the opposite traffic pattern), but she didn't make it. There was another car in the outside lane beside him, who managed to slam on the brakes and miss her... SO slammed on the brakes but hit her square in the rear fender. The spend limit on that road is 45mph btw... She spun around several times and ended up in the center turn lane, facing the opposite direction. Her rear left tire was completely sideways, and, my SO thought, her car was nondrivable.

Well, the woman and her friend get out of the car. SO sees they appear to be okay, so he pulls off into that gas station to get the hell off the busy road. He pulls out his cell phone for the police, and he and my other friend, who was in the passenger seat, get out of the car and start walking towards the women. As the SO is on the phone with the police, the women get back into their car and take off into a neighborhood we are familiar with, sparks and horrendous squealing the whole way. My SO tells the police - "WTH, they're taking off!" The police ask for a license plate number. My other friend nods, and takes off like an Olympic sprinter after the two dumb broads.

So, SO gets back into the car, and a truck pulls up, offering himself as a witness. Yay! SO gets a phone call from my buddy - apparently, two undercover policemen stopped my buddy (lunatic running after a beat to hell car) and located the car, and were waiting by it (no one was in it). My SO drives back to the policemen. I guess it was parked in front of an apartment building or house (not clear) and this old woman and her husband were watching very closely the actions being taken out front... the policeman asked if either of the women were in their house, and they adamantly said no. I told my SO that they live in a pretty crime-ridden, drug-filled neighborhood (hence undercover cops) so they'd probably deny seeing a murder right in front of their noses. SO waits for regular policemen, files a report, and goes back to his parents' house, leaves their now mauled car, takes his DAD'S truck, and comes home.

He's telling me the story when the Columbus Police call him. As they were loading her car up onto a flatbed tow truck to impound it (fleeing the scene, and she has an expired license) the chick ran out of the house to try to stop them. Her story is that my SO fled the scene and she figured he didn't have insurance so she went home. HAHAHAHA!! They fled the scene by getting off a busy road and walking towards her? They probably saw him on his cell phone and panicked. I also doubt she has any insurance at all. She didn't understand why, since he hit HER, it could possibly be her fault. The policemen apparently thought her story was funny, because they charged her with several things, the only two I remember are fleeing the scene and an expired license... and they took her car.

I told his parents to get rid of that car. It's a bad luck car.

So that's my story. It was an interesting night last night. :) I'm glad I said no when he asked if I wanted to go before he left... I don't usually wear a seatbelt when I sit in the backseat!

as of right now, we don't even know that the dumbass has insurance, so it looks like car repairs will be going on the "uninsured motorists" part of his mom's insurance. Which, it is illegal to be uninsured in Ohio, so that'd be one more charge against her. I'm trying to find the police report for him, they're usually available online...
