Sadly I wont be going full out raw for a few years for a variety of reasons.
I have been giving Rosco some rmbs like chicken quarters. I was searching the fourm for lots of other rmbs and found a ton of others I could start feeding as well.
I just get confused about how much to feed and when since he is a kibble dog. It sounds to me like I could feed him a rmb for breakfast and then his regular 2-3 cups(depending on how much activity he has) EVO for dinner? Is this correct? He would be getting way to much if he got breakfast and dinner kibble with a rmb for like lunch or later evening?
I'm doing this for health benifits(I know its not as much as going full raw) as well as teeth cleaning.

I hope this isnt a stupid question I just dont want to do anything wrong.

Thanks!

If you give him a RMB meal in the morning, don't give him a full ration of Evo at night.

How much does your dog weigh? I whole chicken leg quarter could be a full day's worth of food depending on how big he is. The general rule is 2-3% of the dogs weight per day for raw. 50lb dog- 1 to 1.5lbs per day, total, not counting kibble. Most leg quarters are at least a pound. If you are going to keep giving kibble then you should definitely cut it way back on the days you feed a RMB meal, if you feed any kibble at all on those days.

He is 68lbs, at an ideal weight and very active.

I'm assuming that whatever size of rmb I give him(of course I wouldnt give him something so small it would be a choking hazard) I would be able to either elliminate or at least cut down on one kibble meal?

This sounds about right, depending on the type of RMB you give :)

Sismorphine, he gets 5 cups a day of EVO. I know it sounds like alot but he keeps him at a healthy weight.

If he gets 5 cups I would try the chicken quarter one meal, and two cups the next and re-evaluate his weight after a week or two. Basically you'll start to get a feel for what is a good amount to feed, and that way when you add in other RMBs you'll know how much kibble to give the next meal.

:yikes: That's a lot of EVO! I could never afford it if my dog went through it that fast lol. I'm glad you posted this though because I'm wanting to do the same type of diet with my dogs. :)

I know it does seem like alot. It always seems like my dogs get tons of food and they always eat it right up and are never overweight. My foster pup was eating 3 1/2 cups a day and she was an 11wk old Husky.
A 30lb bag lasts usually a month on days he doesnt do much due to weather he gets more 4 cups.

WHOA!!!! Kharma only eats 3 - 3.5 cups, tops!
Daisy gets 3 cups when she gets a kibble meal. I will put in a can of tripe with it too. Gunnar gets 2 cups and about 2/3 of a can of tripe. Bruzer gets about half a cup and the rest of Gunnar's can.

5 cups a day seems like a LOT. Though when Daisy was young I was feeding her 5lbs of raw per day and she still looked thin. Now she's down to 3.5 and is maintaining well but she's full grown and her metabolism has slowed.

AgilityKrazii- how old is your dog?

When I first got Wally he was eating 6 cups a day and I couldn't keep weight on him! Some dogs just have insane metabolisms, especially if they're very active.
