I shave every day, but I differentiate between a quick shave and a thorough shave. Either way, the best advice you can get is exfoliate. Doesn't matter if it is under your arms, legs, or lady bits. Exfoliate. Plenty.
Other tips I hoarded over the years:
-Rinse with cold water to prevent razor burn
-Barbasol Aloe is my go-to shaving cream. It is super cheap and nice. But otherwise, use conditioner or a body butter/lotion. Fun times is the lotion you don't even have to get in the shower for. Just lotion up, shave, lotion up again and done.
-Exfoliate
-Long soak in a tub. Exfoliate.
-Men's razors. If it is good enough for their super thick hair and soft face, it's good enough for me!
-If you cut yourself or have super sensitive skin and end up with razor burn...NEOSPORIN. This was CRUCIAL for me last summer near my lady bits. Shaving + Chemical Pool water was a nightmare.
-Exfoliate
-If you have tender skin and can't exfoliate, use a salicylic acid body wash. It is a chemical exfoliate that basically just helps things along. Like a regular deep clean face wash. (works awesome on your feet too. Stridex Pads + Food Cream).
Uh, tip that did not work for me: Use the pumice bar to remove hair. Nope. Nope. Don't try it, don't do it. But if you are gentle, it is nice to exfoliate with.
I use pretty much all of the above for a shave that'll last more than 24 hours. A really thorough shave takes longer, but it is easier to keep up for the weekend or something. But I'll go over my legs quickly when I soap up in the shower, too. I usually miss spots and it isn't even, but it's good enough to wear shorts or something.
