We had a great weekend at a set of shows about 200 miles north.

Khana earned her AKC Rally Excellent title with back-to-back qualifying scores of 95 (and first place both times). She'd earned one qualifying score last time I showed her in May. I was especially proud of her as the second day we showed it POURED rain - miserable weather! - and yet she still made it through. When the judge gave the ribbons out he told everyone that Khana's backing up (there's an exercise in excellent level where they have to back three steps in heel position) was the best of all the excellent level dogs there. She DOES back beautifully and did it perfectly this weekend.

I also showed her in Novice Obedience twice. She qualified both times. Her scores weren't beautiful but they were both in the 180's. By the time we showed in novice we'd been there for hours and she was tired and distracted (not to mention we were staying in a motel and she was not sleeping well either). In fact the last day we showed, I don't think any of the novice B dogs earned scores in the 190's! There were some nice dogs there but it was a tough weekend. The grass was very wet even after it stopped raining, and it was a good sized show (over 700 dogs with conformation and obedience).

To top it all off, I took her to the show-sponsored eye and cardiac clinic. She passed both, so now she is one of less than 10 chows who have passed all six health tests: hips, elbows, patellas, thyroid, heart and eyes. I just need to send off the paperwork to CERF and OFA so it is officially listed on the last two. Her father was the first chow to pass everything, and now she's the first offspring of a fully certified chow to do the same.

It was a great weekend, we're TIRED but happy and we can start working toward that last CD leg in (hopefully) October!

Thanks, everyone! She's a wonderful girl and my best buddy - all the showing is just icing on the cake .. *L*

blue - yes, this was at the Palmer fairgrounds. Would have been nice except for the rain!

LoveMyKees - I took my camera this weekend and didn't take a single photo! It's hard to watch your camera AND show your dog, so I left it in the van. And with the rain, the dogs weren't exactly looking their best! *LOL* But I will try to get a photo of Khana with her ribbons sometime this week.

Thanks again, everyone! We appreciate all the congratulations. The owner of her sire (the first chow to pass all the health tests) was absolutely thrilled to hear the news too - what a great legacy to pass on! There are so many health problems in the breed and I feel so lucky to have such a healthy, gorgeous, smart girl.
