I've put off having my haircut for ages, mainly because having people cut my hair for the first time makes me nervous. So, it's been quite long...well past the middle of my back. This means split ends and ickiness. So I finally bit the bullet and went to a newish shop, but one that some people from work had been to.

I usually only get a trim, but thought some really long layers might make my hair do something but without having to do much to it. (unless it is on a rare day off, I dont' have time to do much with it at all)

I really think maybe I just wasnt' specific enough..though I did motion to my boob area with my hands:confused: But what I have most certainly isn't really long layers..unless their idea of long is different than mine. I have a roundish face..I can't pull of shorter haircuts anymore. And now I have hair just past my shoulders:eek: And the layers want to do this weird sticking out thing. It was supposed to be a cut/shampoo, but she didn't wash my hair. So, I went home and washed and dried my hair, to see if that helped. Nope..still weird sticking out:rolleyes:

Ah well, at least it's long enough for a (really short) ponytail for a month. I think once it is a little longer it'll be fine, and I can just trim it to all one length again. Remind me to never, ever try new things. And I can't really have her fix it, as it would make my hair even shorter, which just won't do.

I felt really bad and even tipped her, as I think it was my lack of specifics that was the issue, not that she sucked or anything.

I have to pick the lad up from a movie soon, I'm bracing myself for the  look

That's really a shame !! They really should have washed your hair first to cut wet . I'm so lucky with my hairdresser ! He know my cowlicks . Do you think you should go back ??

Let it grow some, then find a couple of pictures of hairstyles you really like. And go someplace else ;) Check to see if there's a salon in your area that is licensed by Aveda. They usually do a stellar job with easy care long layers.

I don't have any cowlicks, I think my hair just isn't pleased with layers;) Not much they could do if I went back now aside from cut everything one length, and that would be way too short.

It isn't so bad if I pin the top back, so I'll alternate between that and ponytails until it is a little longer

A GOOD layer cut should be easy to wear for any type of hair, because a good stylist will cut it to accommodate your hair type and you should be able to style it with a minimum of product and styling tools -- it really should look fine without even drying!
