Just got home from our very first Dog Show.
http://www.seattlekennelclub.org/
We had fun! I didn't see any of the confirmation stuff, sorry. I spent all of my time watching the agility trials and cruising the rescue booths. So many dogs to meet and so little time. We also watched a herding demo.
I have never before been anywhere where there were so many great dogs. Big ones, really big ones, medium to small ones, pretty ones, ugly ones and mostly all of them friendly and eager to meet me.
Did you know Shar Peis come in smooth and rough?
Did you know that Akitas have the most incredibly soft coat you could imagine?
Ladies with Bassett hounds are especially friendly.
German Shorthair Pointers are much cooler than I knew.
But if I came away with any opinions that are going to stick with me for a long time; it's that Border Collies rock! The herding and agilily skills of the BCs I saw were incredible. The BC entered the herding ring and immediately dropped, doing that eye thing. The ducks were helpless. :hail: In agility they were just awesome. I was extremely impressed.
I met my Aussie rescue rep and kissed her butt as much as possible. Turns out, We're going to have our home "inspection" next weekend. She's bringing two dogs over to see how we interact. She's also bringing a couple of rescue trainees to observe. This place is going to be crowded.
