Zelda, our 2nd rescue, we think -about- 4, is going to be "fixed" in the next week or two, she was just coming out of heat when we got her and hadn't been at the shelter long. (Our other dog Bonnie was already done when we took her.)

Question is: apart from the obvious post treatment care you'd give anyway, is there anything special that we should watch for in temprament, behaviour etc after this happening, especially as she's older? Not sure there is but thought I'd ask. She's docile anway.

I am aware that anasthetic for greyhound types can be a concern but our vet is good and knows the breed.

I had a time getting my recently rescued GSD to eat after the surgery, even after she got her stitches out. She ended up in this ugly circle or not eating because she didn't want to defecate (I imagine it hurt), we had bouts of diarrhea and constipation, and had to keep an eye on her weight (she was skinny to begin with). Usually other than post surgery care there's nothing much to worry about... she's still pretty young ;)

Thanks Brattina. Her weight is pretty good now (was under), poor thing has had a fair amount of vaccinations and medicine in the last few weeks to get her up to strength, but all good now, and just got herself microchipped - so hopefully once this is done she can have a break from the vets office!
Thanks for the tips, we're planning a food change too so we'll probably do that first and then get the op done in a few weeks, and we'll obviously watch her carefully :)
