Nonono, I'm going to buy the book. Is the latest edition othe fourth edition?

But... If I wanted to get two, should I get a male and female?

I REALLY want two, and I'm hardly ever home anyways, and I dont feel like getting any complaints from the neightbbors about some 'mysterious wailing' durring the day.

But seriously.

Male and Female both Spayed and Neutered.

And if they bond together and leave me out... I'm willing to take the chance.

Like...

NEGATIVES OF GETTING TWO PUPPIES
- Might get bond with each other only
- More housebreaking, etc.
- They need much more attention
- Possible that they will fight (I doubt it... Is it likely that a male and female will fight?)

POSITIVES OF GETTING TWO PUPPIES
- They wont be lonely when left home alone
- They'll have things to do
- Will get a chance to be with other dogs
- Wont get fat. (LOL. But seriously. They'll run around all day durring the summer and spring and stay nice and fit. *grimaces at the thought of all the headaches* )

You can still take another puppy later once this one is housebroken and trained.

But I agree though, a puppy if nobody is home is a bad idea.

Oh stop attacking me, all of you.

Hearing a puppy wail breaks my heart too. To add to that, if my friend (even if she was my best friend) hurt my puppy I'd probably like... -Un-say-able-

Anyways, I'm ordering the book right now, (gotta go snag my aunt's credit card)

Is Amazon safe? :D

Not attacking you. But a puppy left alone all day will take a long time to be housetrained and just trained. Plus it's IMO cruel to take a puppy from its mom then leave him alone more than 6 hours a day.

You never said if someone else will be home to take care of the dog, so I wasn't going to tell you it's not a good idea to take a pup if you're never home, which is why I said if 'nobody' is home. Hopefully there will be someone with that pup, and he/she won't be left alone for hours everyday.

And yes amazon is safe, watch out though when you order second-hand books, I have had some bad experiences with those, even though amazon is really good about reimbursing you when they don't send the item.

About that book, I totally disagree with some of their advice (like shaking a puppy that growls), so make sure to read it with an open mind.

having two puppies at home while you arent there isnt a substitute - they are not going to be any more fit if you dont exercise them, they wont be any more well trained unless you actually do the training. assuming that getting a second dog somehow lessens your responsibility is wrong.

quite frankly, you dont need any more dogs. how did your dog accidentally breed with another dog, and then get killed by being hit by a car? was he ever on leash, or kept from roaming?
