Per the breeder she will be swollen and I should keep her isolated from other un-neutered dogs for at least 21 days. She is 11 months old, all her sisters were in heat from Feb. to March. She was really swollen since about March 18, but no signs of blood that I can detect. The swelling has gone down, but I am still not taking any chances.

I need to know do you ALWAYS see blood when they are in heat? Or is that yet to come?

My first female dog went to the vets the minute I saw blood and was fixed. This is a show dog so I can't fix her yet, or I would have already done it. The next door bulldog is still trying to get in our yard, but not as adamently as he was 2 weeks ago. I am trying to be extra careful and I am paranoid about it. All information is helpful. I do not want any "Ooops" litters or any litters at all if I can help it. I have not had to use a diaper because I have seen no signs of any leakage. (She is never outside in the yard without supervision any way).

Help??????

Mine always had discharge of some kind . Usually if they're " ripe " if you touch them back yonder , they will flag their tail . Watch carefully since the neighbor dog is interested .

Some dogs keep themselves very clean and you don't notice much in the way of discharge.
