I would go for the breeder that has the stucture that you want. When I was "in the market" for a dog, I was totally set on a black tri Aussie, though I would have considered a red tri. Honestly, I thought merles, for the most part, were kind of ugly, ESPECIALLY the blues. Um, take a look at my signature.

I was considering an Aussie for a while, so I know a couple breeders- they have all colors. However, I do suggest you attend events where you can meet and greet Aussie people. I know that Aussie specialties often have agility there, in fact some people show their dog, and then do agility with them. I'd also not look at only two breeders. There are a lot of Aussie breeders to choose from.

I also suggest going to the Australian Shepherd Club of America website and taking a look at the breeders listed there. Although they may or may not be "reputable" you can run into people that are truly dedicated through that list and will probably help you find the puppy your looking for, whether it be from them or not.

The breeders I know personally are here in California, so I'm not sure where you live and if you only are interested if they live near you or whatever.
