I long ago dropped it just thought people might find it interesting to see how they were portrayed, but I guess there are some who will never stop defending her. I just said it is a shame that the laws are not stronger to deal with such abuse.
whatever. I'll leave it at that because I do believe your heart's in the right place, but your methods are a way off base.

Huh? Way off base? Educating people on backyard breeders is way off base? It is acceptable for her to come onto this forum and attack me? I am a very forgiving person, but this person has gone well past my ability to forgive, sorry but I just do not have the ability to forgive and forget this one. The hurt and heartache this person caused me personally is unacceptable and unforgivable.

Meggie, I'm sure that the OP (forgot her name and I'm too lazy to check again) really thinks that she sells healthy pups. The problem is that she is misinformed, and that she doesn't seem to know that dogs can have lots of genetical disorders that you can NOT know of unless you do proper testings on the parents. And she doesn't mention anywhere that she does, so there is NO guarantee that the pups won't have those problems (for pugs, nose problems, skin problems, eyes problems, hip problems...).

I'm sure you guys at the other forums don't know about it either, which is why you don't really understand why Yuck is so agressive about it. Please, try to see things our way. We all here care really much about the health of dogs in general, and we are worried to see puppies that are not tested against any disease get sold, when we never know if they won't get used to breed by other breeders later too, and just create more unhealthy puppies.

Most people just have no clue, which is why they buy pups from such breeders or petstores, and they need to be educated about it. You seem like a smart person, so hopefully you can understand why it bothers us.

Hi Fran27...

I wasn't planning to revisit this issue here, but I wanted to say that many of us at that "other" site are well aware of the issues of BYBs and the need for health testing. I actually managed vet clinics for over a decade, and we counted many breeders among our clients. I'm not a huge supporter of cross-bred dogs (and have discussed this with the OP on another forum) - but there are people out there who do not want a purebred dog, do not want to adopt from a shelter, and want those puggles and labradoodles and what have you. I'd rather see them buy them from someone like the OP (who meets every client individually, is very cautious about who she sells to, and who follows up with the new owners) as opposed to buying from the lady who sells cross-bred pups from the back of her van at my local Wal-Mart parking lot and her check of her clients consists of whether or not they can produce the cash on the spot(and yes, I've seen this happen). I also know that not all breeders who sell pure-breds have their animals health tested or breed for the purpose they should - some also breed purely for profit and while they tell puppy buyers they do all the tests they do none.

As for the OP deleting entries from her personal guest book - it seems to me that is completely up to her as it is her personal website and she can do with it as she sees fit.

It's not a perfect world, and yes, I would like to see people buy dogs either from registered breeders or adopt from shelters - but while we can educate people we also cannot dictate what they can do. If they have the facts and still choose to buy a puggle or labradoodle I think I can respect that (although if they then experience health issues or other issues my compassion may be somewhat less, LOL). I think there are BYBs who truly do love their dogs, their puppies, and who are sought out by buyers, even by educated buyers. This then becomes the decision of the buyer, and not up to me to control or dictate. :)

And I agree with Meggie - i'd sort of hoped this issue had been addressed and dropped.... :(

I think this post basically says it all. We do our best to educate people, but in the end it is their decision who they buy from. I also believe unless laws change this will never end, so all we can do is try to educate more people and hope we make a difference.

I also agree it is time to put this to rest and perhaps Renee would be willing to close this thread. Thanks.
